The GTFr Poseidon is a Terran-designed vessel used for hauling cargo from one location to another. The Poseidon's relatively high speed and decent defenses are offset by its substandard armor rating, which leaves its survivability on a battlefield questionable.

The GTFr Poseidon

FS1 Tech Room Description

The Poseidon is the standard military freighter in the GTA. It is designed to protect its cargo from any kind of attack, and has four turrets with which to do so.

FS2 Tech Room Description

The GTFr Poseidon is the smaller of the two standard Terran military freighters. Though it carries only half as much cargo as the Triton, the Poseidon is more often chosen for dangerous missions. Its greater speed gives it better survivability on the front lines, as does the fact that it has four weapon turrets, compared to the Triton's two. When Allied Command sends supplies and munitions that have to get through, a Poseidon is usually chosen to transport them.

This ship is actually better armed than the GVFr Satis on paper. In practice the slowed firing rate of mounting fighter weapons on its turrets and the shorter range means that the Satis is more likely to survive because it has a better chance to knock down incoming bombs. Its armor is woeful, with the some bombers being able to take more hits than this freighter.

They are very fast and very maneuverable for a vessel larger than a fighter (in fact, more maneuverable and faster than some bombers), and can be definitely counted on to survive were it not for the fact that their armor is extremely weak. A single heavy assault fighter can take this out easily with a load of Hornets. It is also quite a bit larger than the GVT Isis, and does not exactly perform the same acrobatics to survive. Overall pretty good, but it needs more armor.

The Poseidon appears more sprightly than it is. FS1 freighters have what seem ridiculously high speed values, until you realize that docking with a container will chop them in half, or more. When not carrying cargo, it can outrun some attackers, but when weighted down with a container, it is as vulnerable as anything else.

Does a better job of defending cargo depots from pirates than sentry guns, certainly.
