The GTW-81 Phalanx is the newest incarnation of high power laser weaponry, much in the line of the Prometheus cannons. Unlike the Prometheus, however, its power generation module utilizes a hydrogen/nitrogen reaction that results in exceedingly high damage ratings and a very high velocity. However, the Phalanx has an extensive fire wait cycle and its repeated usage will quickly drain even the largest fighter energy reserves, so make every shot count when using this weapon.
