The GVB Sekhmet is a Vasudan-designed heavy bomber. The Sekhmet was originally a Hammer of Light bomber based on Shivan designs. Sometime before the Second Shivan Incursion, Mekhu Enterprises came into possession of the Sekhmet and modified it even further into the Sekhmet that we see today.
As of 2367, the Sekhmet is the heaviest Vasudan bomber (in terms of payload capacity) in service.
There is some speculation about the Shivan design that inspired the Sekhmet. Some believe that the Sekhmet is based off the SB Nahema, because both ships look slightly similar.

The GVB Sekhmet is a Shivan design that was initially adapted to Vasudan needs by Hammer of Light engineers. The version currently in use was further modified by technicians at Mekhu Enterprises. Sporting four primary weapon banks and three missile/bomb bays, the Sekhmet packs a massive punch. Add in a top speed that surpasses that of some fighters and an ultra-dense molybdenum armor plating, and it's easy to see why the Sekhmet is the favorite bomber among Vasudan pilots.
Sekhmet was a deity in Egyptian mythology, depicted as a lioness. It is said that the desert was created by her breath.

The Sekhmet's four primary guns are mounted in a single bank, giving it a rate-of-fire advantage against just about anything, but also limiting its adaptability once committed to the field. Nevertheless, this is a potent bomber, and if only on a par with the Boanerges or Ursa in toughness, it maneuvers better. Imagine this bomber that has the speed and primary firepower of the Artemis, the maneuverability of the Athena, and the secondary payload of the Ursa, all wrapped up in a neat package. It may not have a turret or offset triple-gun rack like the Ursa, but every other advantage counts.
Considered by many to be THE BEST bomber in the game, while others prefer the Terran design philosophies of the Medusa and Ursa.
I agree with the previous commentators. The Sekhmet is a capable enough dogfighter in some hands and is capable of going in unescorted if properly armed. The only major flaw (if you want to call it that) is the lack of a second primary bank, meaning that carrying disruptors or the Maxim is not the best idea you've ever had. However, the rate-of-fire advantage offsets this, giving the Sekhmet enough teeth to engage damn near anything and come out alive. The Vasudans would do quite well indeed to scrap every Osiris in existence and replace them with the equivalent tonnage of Sekhmets.
A better dogfighter than the Tauret, given its armor and maneuverability. If you want to fly something that will take down a destroyer, as well as any bombers and fighters it launches, then take a Sekhmet.
Give this thing a Mekhu HL-7 or Prometheus S, and those four guns will tear apart any heavy fighter foolish enough to get in the way. This ship appears to be based off the SB Nahema, which seems to be where it inherited a great deal of its design: both have four guns (although the Nahema has them split into two banks), they have a very similar design, and they have similar levels of protection. The only significant differences are that the Nahema is faster, and the Sekhmet has more than double the bomb capacity. One of the best, if not THE best, bombers.
A truly superb bomber, perhaps too good. In player hands, you'll be able to both dogfight as well as heavy assault fighters AND destroy capital ships. A wonderful ship for missions in which you must destroy big targets, but the author presents too many fighters for your escort AI to realistically handle. Personally, I can't help but feel that this ship takes some of the fun out of flying a heavy bomber. When I'm taking out a capital ship, I want to feel poorly equipped to handle fighters. You'll feel anything but that in this bomber.
The Sekhmet's biggest weakness is its enormous target profile. It's easy to mow down scores of these things with Tempests.
Aside from bombing, the Sekhmet could theoretically be used as a sort of heavy missile boat-load up with GTM Tornados and mow down enemy fighters with dual shots. They can carry 30 Trebuchets like the Ursa can, for LRM saturation tactics.
It's a shame you never get to fly these in the retail campaign and you only encounter them once, but user-made missions and campaigns (think Vasudan bombing missions in Warzone) can do this ship a lot of justice.
Another weakness is the Sekhmet's primary weapon recharge rate. You run out of primary energy sooner than most fighters, unless you carry the Mekhu HL-7. If you carry a Prometheus and want to attack turrets with it, you'll have to divert all power to weapon recharge, effectively making yourself a sitting duck.
