MercFox1:

Special Operations Command (abbreviated most of the time to SOC) is a subsection of Galactic Terran-Vasudan Intelligence, and is considered to be the heart of Terran intelligence gathering. It played a pivotal role in the defeat of the Neo-Terra Front and was likely the key player in the elimination of the Hammer of Light.

During the NTF Insurgency, Special Operations Command faced large pressure from Allied Command, who encouraged them to launch as many missions as possible to learn as much as they could about the NTF. Because of this, elite pilots often volunteered and most of the time never returned to their squads.

When these dangerous operations succeeded, the Galactic Terran-Vasudan Alliance had enough information about the enemy to launch tactical strikes against any NTF targets. These accurate and co-ordinated strikes played important role in the Battles for Deneb and Regulus. SOC missions were carried out deep within enemy territory, and demanded stealth and discipline. When the operative's presence was revealed, they were often recalled to avoid needless casualties. As the Neo-Terra Front grew stronger and began to win engagements in Deneb, even the SOC operations were focused on making as much damage as possible with minimal casualties from GTVA point of view.

Known assignments
The mysterious ETAK device, believed for some time to be a weapon, was the impetus for Allied Command to infiltrate the NTF via SOC operatives. Alpha 1 of the 242nd Suicide Kings was one of these spies. Once inserted into the NTF, Alpha 1 made contact with Lieutenant Commander Christopher Snipes, the SOC's undercover mission coordinator within the NTF. Once they were established within one of the NTF's fighter squadrons, the first mission undertaken by the pair was to scan the NTF Iceni and acquire any additional data possible, especially about ETAK.

This mission was complicated by the actions of Admiral Ahmose, who, despite knowing the operation being carried out near the Iceni, ordered his Vasudan battle group to launch an assault on the NTF convoy against the orders of Allied Command. His choice threatened the safety of the operation and the lives of the volunteers, and the SOC operatives had no choice but to fire on the GTVA forces, not wanting the Iceni destroyed. The Iceni successfully reached the jump node to Epsilon Pegasi and Admiral Ahmose was branded a traitor and court-martialled.

The next operation did not go as planned, either. The NTF squadron the SOC pilots had infiltrated was ordered to defend an Argo-class transport, the NTT Sunder. The cargo and destination of this transport was highly classified, which led to the suspicion it had something to do with the ETAK project. Snipes, with the help of the crew chief of the squadron (also a SOC operative), installed overload devices to destroy the remainder of the squadron. Alpha 1 and Snipes then attempted to hijack the Sunder with the help of a GTVA agent piloting the transport. At this point, secrecy was paramount, and the alliance deployed their new AWACS, the GTA Charybdis, to jam communications in the area, allowing the operation to remain covert.

NTF fighters responded to a partial message warning of a reactor core breach, and raced to aid the NTT Sunder. Alpha 1 and Snipes, aided by the pilots of an SOC unit, the 99th Skulls, successfully hijacked the NTT Sunder, repelling NTF forces sent to aid in the recovery operation. Blowing up a decoy Argo-class transport, Snipes managed to successfully pin the blame on another NTF commander, who was court-martialled and executed. The NTT Sunder successfully reached the Regulus system and was recovered by GTVA Intelligence.

Snipes was reassigned, and the NTF began to suspect Alpha 1 of being a GTVA operative. Sending Alpha 1 on a suicide mission, they ambushed the fighter pilot and attempted to have him executed in the field. Once again, the 99th Skulls saved the day, and recovered the pilot, as well as sensitive data that had been stashed in the fighter's computers.

Shortly before Capella went supernova, the SOC launched another dangerous mission—using Alpha 1 and three additional pilots to rescue the NTT Grall and Commander Snipes, who had ended up stranded deep in the nebula. He was rescued from a highly electrically-active, Shivan-infested area, along with the crew of his ship.

Alpha 1, Snipes, and two others then volunteered to take part in a mission to infiltrate the area behind the second Knossos subspace portal, which had been discovered by a Vasudan patrol. They flew specially-modified Mara-class fighters, captured earlier by SOC, and modified for Terran use. Behind the portal, they found numerous Sathanas juggernauts, heading towards the portal to the nebula, as well as a large fleet of Shivan cruisers and warships. This expedition's main goal was only to gather intelligence and this succeeded as soon as they gathered information about the true strength of the Shivan fleet. During the mission, the SOC volunteers inspected and destroyed three Shivan devices of a type never before encountered by the GTVA. Game documentation refers to these devices as Shivan communication devices, or Shivan Comm Nodes, but it is unknown if the GTVA had determined this to be their function by the end of FS2.

After the destruction of these devices, they rushed back to the jump node back to the nebula and were extracted by SOC logistics craft.

The Galactic Terran Alliance was an alliance formed by the human race after the unification of the peoples at Earth. Abbreviated as GTA. The space-based military wing of the GTA is known as the Galactic Terran Navy (GTN) but referenced as such only in the Reference Bible. The intelligence branch of the GTA is Galactic Terran Intelligence (GTI).

Speculation
Any info read here is not canon. The following section needs to be cleaned up to separate the facts from the interpretation.
----

The beginning
The Galactic Terran Alliance was formed in the first years of the age of space exploration, when the nations of the Earth have unified and formed an alliance. In the beginning, there were linguistic difficulties, but later, the English language later became a common language all through Terran space, even though not all GTA citizens spoke it as if it were their mothertongue, or did not speak it in a way that could be understood.

Initially, the alliance was focusing on economic and research factors, but later, with the discovery of subspace, building, maintaining and developing a space navy was at hand.
----
Expansion
The Alliance spread their empire all through the Sol system, building shipyards, repair yards and other kind of factories or supply depots. By the end of the 23rd century, the GTA had already taken up the whole Sol system and also spread to Delta Serpentis and Beta Aquilae.
----
Wars
In 2320, the Galactic Terran Alliance first encountered the Vasudans. At the beginning of their relationship, there was no armed conflict; what we know of as "The Great War" erupted in the year 2321. The exact cause of the war isn't revealed, but the FS1 techroom entry claims that one of the main factors was a Terran mishandling of "The Conversation", or a ritual of the Vasudan language.

After fourteen years of seemingly endless war, a previously unknown race known as the Shivans attacked, without warning, a Terran convoy and Vasudan strike force in the Antares system, as well as harassing other GTA and PVN forces in the sector. After initial casualty estimates, the PVN approached the GTA with a motion to sign an armistice and fight this new foe. Terran Command agreed, signed the armistice, and ended the Terran-Vasudan portion of the Great War. These two former foes would now cooperate in many ventures, such as science and engineering to defeat the newly discovered Shivans. With the signing of this treaty, the most important war in the history of either specie would now begin.

Ross 128 had already been lost, Betelgeuse, Beta Cygni and Ribos also fell to the Shivans' superiority. When the Shivans took Antares, it became clear to the GTA that if the Vasuda system were to fall, the Vasudans war effort would be fatally crushed. In the effort to defend Vasuda from the mighty Shivan fleet, multiple destroyers engaged Shivan forces in both Deneb and Antares. With the destruction of the GTD Galatea, nothing was left to halt the progression of Shivan forces into the Vasuda system. After arriving, the SD Lucifer bombarded Vasuda Prime, killing billions of innocent Vasudans after only fourteen hours of incessant bombardment.

With the destruction of Vasuda, Terran Command feared the Shivans would now move towards Earth. If it had not been for the Vasudan refugees who found the Ancient records, Earth would have also been annihilated by the Shivan superdestroyer. Thanks to the successful extraction of the Ancient data, Terran Command now possessed the knowledge needed to defeat the SD Lucifer and halt the Shivan advance. After being pursued by the GTD Bastion and later a small contingent of fighters and bombers, the SD Lucifer was destroyed in the subspace tunnel between Sol and Delta Serpentis, causing the jump node to collapse.

With the destruction of the SD Lucifer, the Shivan war machine crumbled, and the remnants of their fleet were defeated as the Great War finally came to an end.
----

Dissolution
In the year of 2345, the Terrans and Vasudans officially formed an alliance, called the Galactic Terran-Vasudan Alliance, causing the end of the Galactic Terran Alliance.

Fighter squadron:
Description:

----
Background
:Reconnaissance has observed a small Shivan cruiser group, designated Hellfire, en route to the Delta Serpentis jump node. If Hellfire reaches its destination, it will be reunited with the primary Shivan fleet.
:Hellfire consists of four cruisers, both Cain and Lilith class, with a fighter escort of ten to fifteen ships.
:Your squad will intercept and destroy as much of the Shivan force as possible. Beta and Delta will engage the cruisers. Alpha and Gamma will defend the bomber wings and neutralize the fighter threat.

Walkthrough
After listening to the briefing, get to the loadout page. There are actually two ways to customize your loadout:

#Start loading bombers for you and your wingmen, and bombs of course. Use Prometheus and Avengers, since this are the most powerful lasers for bombers. Also carry some missiles, but powerful missiles such as hornets.
#The same as above, except you take disrupters. Do the same for wingmates.
#Take a fighter with a good loadout of secondaries.

When you begin, target Hellfire 1 and order one wing to start disabling it. Do the same for the other Hellfire, however, you don't join your wing to destroy one Hellfire. Target a Hellfire which is a Cain. It should be easy, since Hornets and Tsunamis are not friendly to a Cain. However, if you take the disrupters with you, target the engines instead. However, use bombs in combination.

If you chose a fighter, instead of you bravely taking down the cruisers, why don't you be so kind as to protect your wingmen! I am sure Command would appreciate it...

Once your wingmen have taken down all cruisers, tell them to engage enemies. When there only junk left in that place, return to base. Easy as it sounds!

Notes
Only Hellfire 1 is Lilith class, the other cruisers are Cain class. Please do not confuse these vessels with the Demon class destroyer from the official FS1 multiplayer mission Unstoppable, which is also called Hellfire.

Notable ships present
* SC Hellfire cruiser group:
**SC Hellfire 1
**SC Hellfire 2
