Swantz: Volition link was broken. Added fsmods download link.

The FreeSpace Reference Bible (also known as the FreeSpace Bible, FSRefBible or FS Bible) is a Word document created by Volition that contains original information on the FreeSpace universe. It includes transcripts of the cutscenes (many changed from the final versions) as well as transcripts of some cutscenes that never got included. It includes background information on the FreeSpace universe, exclusive concept art, and notes from the game designers.

It is quite likely that the Reference Bible was assembled primarily to assist the science fiction writers whom Interplay commissioned to write fan fiction as part of their FreeSpace marketing campaign. It was then subsequently released as an additional download on the Volition site. It is now available on FreeSpaceMods.

There is no corresponding Reference Bible for FreeSpace 2.

Chapters
*Introduction: Background to Terran and Vasudan history and a brief introduction of the Great War.
*Subspace Technology: A scientific description of subspace that gives relevant information about traveling in the FreeSpace universe.
*Synopsis: Transcripts of non-monologue cutscenes, Some that have never made it into the game are also included. The transcripts are inaccurate.
*Ancient Readings: Transcripts of the Ancient cutscenes and the last player monologue. It is because of the Reference Bible that we know that the player's character speaks in End Cutscene. Accurate.
*The Species: Information about the three species. Therein is an in-depth description about the Vasudans, their homeworld, and communication between Terrans and Vasudans. Gives some hints about the connection between the Ancients and the Vasudans, though phrasing does not definitely confirm that the Ancients did help the Vasudans evolve.
*Ship Specs: Information about notable Terran ships, written in a style similar to actual tech room descriptions known from the game. Some background information not stated in-game is also revealed (the GTF Hercules is for example nicknamed as "The Big Momma"). Descriptions are factually accurate.
*Terran/Vasudan Weapons: Similar to Ship Specs, except this section is about player-usable weapons, primaries and secondaries included. The descriptions are semi-scientific.
Derelict is widely considered to be one of the best user-created mods. Derelict SCP was enhanced in 2006 by a complete set of voiceovers, in addition, several of the missions have been cleaned up.

Story
Five years have passed since the jump node to the Capella system was collapsed, sealing off a massive wave of Shivan Juggernaughts from pushing further into GTVA space. The supernova and subsequent nebula hang like a growing scar throughout the GTVA as light from that event continues to spread across our worlds.

The loss of Capella created serious economic hardship throughout the Alliance, a new Great Depression is upon us. The complete loss of the planetary resources and economic foundation of a rich world was devastating in its own right, but that is not all. Two hundred million refugees continue to walk the stars, seeking a new home. Some have settled, while others have been forced to move from place to place, hoping that the next place may welcome them with open arms.

While the Galactic Terran-Vasudan Alliance continues to hold, the current depression has given way to political instability. Local governments rise and fall as often lunar tides, organized crime and piracy have prospered in a black market environment. It seems no one is immune. Radical voices are raising echoes not heard since the blood cries of the Neo-Terran Front. The Ghosts of the past are catching up with us.

Since collapsing the Capella Jump Node, the recovering GTVA Fleet has spent much of its time and resources in police actions. Our own resources are taxed to the limit, and yet still we have the challenge to live up to our calling. Even so, it is alarming that there are those who are starting to take matters into their own hands.

What happens in the political arena is not our concern today. As part of the GTVA forces, ours is to keep space safe for our citizens

You are to take a new tour of duty with the 212th Silver Scythes squadron in the Tau Sigma cluster, a remote group of systems beyond the Altair Jump Node. These are mining colonies, and while the GTVA presence is small, it is nontheless important.

This is not an easy assignment, pilot. You will often be working in less-than-ideal conditions, but we trust that your skill will help to bring some much needed relief to this region.

Player Comments
Definitely download worthy. One of the best user-made campaign I ever played with brilliant atmosphere.

A masterpiece of user-made campaigns. Hailed by many as one of the best. Great in-depth storyline, atmosphere and intense action.

Renowned by many to be the best FreeSpace 2 fan-made campaign made, Derelict is definitely worth a (several) play through(s)

I believe this campaign could easily be considered one of the best ever made. You do not believe me? Then go play it! It is a jewel, a well-polished one!
A quick, little campaign, hardly posing any form of challenge to the more experienced player. Solely focused on very inexperienced, or new players. If you have played Descent: FreeSpace more than twice you might want to skip this one.
<br>

Story
As the NTF crumbles under pressure by the GTVA fleets in Sirius and the Colossus in Polaris, Admiral Bosch makes a bold escape gambit. A steady flow of NTF vessels now stream through the jump nodes of Polaris, Epsilon Pegasi, Capella, and Gamma Draconis as the rebels make a final ditch for the Knossos subspace portal.<br>
<br>
In order to prevent the NTF from acquiring control of the portal and the nebula beyond, the GTVA has initiated Operation: Thor's Hammer to cripple the rebel ships en route. Though the jump node defenses are formidable, every reinforcement counts in this final campaign.<br>
<br>
You are Alpha 1, a pilot newly-transferred from the 3rd Fleet to a small 4th Fleet Outpost in Vega. Your home: a Deimos-class corvette, the GTCv Spinnaker, and her sister ship, the GTCv Methodus. As the Spinnaker and Methodus are called up to reinforce the jump node defenses, you have to become acquainted with your wingmen and crewmen on the march, fighting the NTF all the way.
<br>

Influences
Rogue Intentions was inspired by a number of other different user-made campaigns. The first and most blatantly-obvious in many ways is Blaise Russel's Homesick. Note the similarities--the player is stationed on a Deimos-class corvette, and his wingmen are all known by their particular wing designations (i.e. Alpha 2, Betas 2 and 3). While Rogue shows similarities to Homesick early on, later chapters may show similarity to Noise's Into the Depths of Hell as well.<br>
<br>
The other major influence behind Rogue comes from the granddaddy of all campaigns: Derelict. Note the story told by Alpha 2 in Mission 3, and then compare it to the Kyle Athanas story early on in Derelict.
Story
Long ago, the Ancients built an outpost here on this icy world. A maze of tunnels and chambers have been mined into the ice and rock. Not much is left except for blasted artifacts and frozen debris. We came here looking for answers that might help us survive this war. After some time, a small outpost of our own developed; Aeos Base. We have a goldmine here, but it will take years to discover what secrets are held by this cold rubble.

Elsewhere, the war is going well. The NTF has been defeated. The Shivans are threatening Capella, but the Colossus is on station there. There are rumors of a massive Shivan invasion force looming beyond GTVA system, but rumors are a dime a dozen in this place. Altair is about as far away from the front lines of the war as you can get. We have no significant military presence here. All of our fighting ships are on the front or elsewhere where they are needed more. We have only a token force of patrol fighters and various civilian support ships. But that's alright with us. Nothing ever happens out here. We expect to continue our work here in peace.

Not much is out this far. Only a jump node to unexplored territory is of any additional interest in this system. It's a perfect setting for a surprise Shivan incursion. Nobody would know they were here until it was too late. Who would suspect the Shivans to establish a foothold on the far side of the galaxy, leapfrogging us entirely?

But we were here. We were too close for comfort for the Shivans. A GTVA base in this system could not be tolerated. The Shivans know that in order to keep their presence a secret they must not allow us to escape. We have monitored a fleet of vessels taking up encircling positions around our base. They have cut us off from all help or rescue. We thought we were safe from bombardment within our warren, but the Shivans have launched what we can only assume are troop transports for a planetary assault. They will be coming for us soon...

We don't have the men, weapons or equipment to fight a war out here. All our resources are tied up on the front lines on the other side of the galaxy. How can we hopeto fight off an entire invasion with a handful of garrison fighters? We are lost...Unless a miracle occurs.

From the campaign website:<br>
This is a series of ten missions based on the 5 star mission "Exodus of Force".

No Mods! Everyone can use it! However, it includes new tech like:

*Minelayers

*Artificial jump gates (NOT a Knossos)

*New AI behaviors

*Many other surprises…

These missions were designed to be much more difficult than standard Freespace 2 missions. These missions are meant to be hard, but not impossible.

These missions were created to challenge elite players. The recommended difficulty setting is "Easy". Crazy people with suicidal tendencies may attempt the missions at higher levels, but be advised that your chances are slim. Note that all of the missions have been tested and all are winnable. On the "Very Easy" level, all objectives of all missions can be completed. Are you good enough?

Player comments
This is generally considered one of the hardest campaigns released for FreeSpace. Although only ten missions long, it is meant to be difficult enough to take more than just a weekend to complete. It has a decent storyline and interesting missions. This is a relatively BoE-ish campaign, and you can earn plenty of capital ship kills.

However, anyone who has completed the main FS2 campaign on Insane should have the common sense to complete this one easily. The winning strategy is to kill all enemy fighters with Trebuchet, then have your wingmen (loaded as bombers) dogpile onto each enemy capital ship. However, players who are used to playing on the lower difficulty levels will likely be frustrated, as this campaign requires competent use of your wingmen more than anything else.
Description
The purpose of the Lightning Marshal project is to bring the Freespace community well developed missions and campaign, across regular intervals. The missions and campaigns will be focused on one ship: The GTCv Actium, and occasionally its sistership the GTCv Lysander The missions will occasionally featured mods - new ships, weapons and other things, which need to be defined in *.tbl files. Those files will be listed in the Mods section of this webpage. The missions will also include new command briefing animations, and hopefully voice acting. Those files will be listed in the dowloads section, along with the missions..

;Part 1 by Spicious: <br>
The Actium goes against an NTF heavy warship - the NTD Liberty in this 3-mission campaign.

;Part 2 by Spicious: <br>
The pilots of the 87th Space Cowboys are sent to guard a civilian convoy enroute to the NTF controlled system of Sirius. Little do they know that the NTF doesn't inted to sit by idly...

;Part 3 by Stunaep: <br>
The Space Cowboys join the SOC while the Actium infiltrates the NTF on a top secret assignment. 13 action-packed missions, new music, cutscenes and voice acting.

;Part 4 by (Stunaep): <br>
The NTF has gone one step too far. After the contestation of Alpha Centauri by rebel forces, Allied Command has pulled all ships from Vega and Aldebaran, to conduct a massive strike at the NTF strongholds in Alpha Centauri. This will be the biggest strike since 2335. Meanwhile, another assignment is given for the Actium, one that will require going deep behind enemy lines....

Notes
This following campaigns is currently re-mastered for the sake of compatibilty with the latest FS Open. See Campaign Restoration for more information.<BR>

There is also a prequel to Lightning Marshal, named [The Regulus Campaign]. This campaign is also not suitable for FS Open.<BR>

Lightning Marshal Part 1 is the only part that is currently compatible with FS Open.<BR>

The files downloaded from the official website contain extras, such as command briefings, music tracks etc.

Into the Depths of Hell is a FreeSpace 2 campaign that follows the route of the GTD Eternity and its attempt to return to GTVA controlled space.
Overview
You begin as a pilot in the SOC wing named 'The Angry Angels'. You fly through various missions, fending off the Shivans and protecting various ships. However, as the destroyer is en route to Capella, the scout team comes across two Vasudan warships claiming that the Capella-Vega jump node has some sort of 'subspace barrier' that is blocking subspace travel between the nodes. So begins the story of the Exile Fleet.

Along the way, they will meet the NTF, the remains of the Hammer of Light and even a new species. As a player, you will take part in the destruction of a new Shivan Super Destroyer, Shivan installations and even bombers with beam turrets. You will fight within subspace, back in the Nebula and even within the material ring of a black hole...

Player Comments
A must-have campaign featuring a long, drawn out story. Each mission is imaginative and adds to the overall surreal atmosphere. Features a great many mods. Chapters 1 - 4 currently released, with Chapter 5 partway released.

ITDOH is, from a standpoint of pure playing, not the best campaign ever made. It does have a VERY good story, however, and for pure pyrotechnics it's tough to beat; while rarely succumbing to BoE Syndrome, ITDOH is pretty good about making sure you're watching the explosions even in a normal mission.

Following the destruction of Capella, the Galactic Terran-Vasudan Alliance has its sights set on regaining stability and rebuilding the lives that had been shattered by the shivan invasion. Unfortunately, how to go about returning to normality is an issue disputed within the upper eschelons of GTVA Command.

Such high-level debates are none of your concern, though, as a transfer pilot to the 121st Shadow Daggers, in Alpha Centauri. Still scarred from battles with the Neo-Terran Front and facing the same economic downturn as the rest of the the Alliance, the officers in this system have more practical and immediate concerns to deal with than how the tax code should treat Capellan refugees or even how the military fleet should look in twenty years' time. Former NTF elements still mark vasudan civilians for death, and elements of the population have turned to violence and piracy to acquire the resources they desire.

You have your work cut out for you, even before one of these nebulous "high-level issues" explodes, in a very real way, into your corner of space.
Everyone has a limit ...

Author's Notes
Transcend has been criticised for having a confusing or downright incomprehensible story. From the beginning of the project I wanted to make a campaign that showed rather than told the story to the player and force them to work things out for themselves, in contrast to that of Sync which had a few missions that were little more than one of the characters spouting exposition for the player's benefit. As a result the campaign would certainly not be to everyone's taste, and to be honest it was received far better than I was expecting.

The theories that rose from the story's ambiguity were both interesting to read and pleasantly surprising. More than one got extremely close to my version of events.

Another thing it's been criticised for is repetitive missions. I don't really have anything to say about that other than it's completely true and I'm not sure what I was thinking with some of those missions, which is particularly embarassing as Sync suffered from the same problem.

One misconception I'd like to clear up is that Transcend is not a sequel to Sync. It takes place the same continuity, but it isn't a chapter in that storyline. It's a spin-off, in other words.

References
Some references of varying significance which may or may not be of any interest to anyone.
<br>
<br>
GTD Voran - Voran is a demo character in the MMORPG Clan Lord.<br />
GTD Brax - Another demo character from the same game.<br>
GTC Tanner - Tanner Mirabel is a character in Alastair Reynold's Chasm City.<br>
GTT Incontrovertible - A friend of mine wrote a fanfiction for David Brin's Uplift series which involved a ship by this name. I don't know if he made it up or if it's actually in Uplift.<br>
GTC Brice - Name of a character from the film Below.<br>

Delays
Transcend was actually complete in late March. However due to a slew of problems, specifically Raa's Kelpie being unplayable (the game crashed when you shot at it) and SCP bugs, it was delayed for four more months until everything was fixed and the campaign was released.

Player Comments
The transcend campaign is a masterpiece. The author who thought of all this is a hero. This campaign thrilled me, scared me, and entertained me. I would say it's almost a stand-alone game... The triggers are simply amazingly well done as well as every details. Fantastic, eery atmosphere and gameplay. Some parts were actually scary. If you are a fan of scary science fiction, I definitely recommended downloading and playing this campaign... And i think it's integrated in the latest SCP anyway. Good Job. ~KR

Swantz: Added Mirror

VPMage is a fairly powerful *.VP Editing tool. It is meant to be a utilitarian tool for mod or source code developers to create and edit VPs. It doesn't have the scripting features of Kazan's command-line VPmake, or the preview features of VPView, but it can be used to extract and edit files in a VP, as well as merge multiple VPs, files, and directories to create one VP.<br><br>

VPMage works by adding a list of all the files and directories into memory, and then copying the data they contain to a VP once it's built. If any files are extracted/edited, they are saved in a temporary folder of the hard disk, in the same directory as VPMage. This folder is deleted after VPMage is closed.<br><br>

Caveat
Please be adviced that the tools will remain resident in memory, even after you terminate the UI (user interface). To avoid having multiple instances of VPMage running simultaneously, bring up the Task Manager (by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del), locate the vpmage.exe process and terminate it. This is the only way to ensure that the tool is unloaded from memory. Having many instances of the process resident in memory might cause system instability and ultimately compromise system integrity.
With neither side willing to give ground, the two fleets are gridlocked, but the Alliance losses are tremendous and it is only a matter of time before attrition loses the war for them. This is the story of General Albert Ulysses and his bold but risky plan to fight back and take the war into ( and behind) Shivan-held territory, to gain back what was once theirs; their planets and their homes. Ulysses' plan carries with it not only great opportunity, but great risk as well. There is more at risk than just billions of lives but the fate of three races and with it the fate of the galaxy.
The campaign consists of mostly standard type missions. Not bad, but not really good either. At times the abundant typos and ambiguous wordings make the de/briefings and messages simply impossible to understand. The missions are fairly well balanced all around, though.

The download is not VP packed, only zipped, which means you will have to copy the contents to the appropriate folder.

A few fairly good Battle of Endor type battles. One of the better FS1 campaigns, by that standard.

25th Year is a three mission mini-campaign for Descent: Freespace, a.k.a. Freespace 1, originally created by KolChak in July, 1998. The mission can be found by searching for 25thyear.zip. The campaign is neither VP packed nor voiced. It contains no mods and will work alongside almost any installed campaigns.

Storyline
:This is the 25th year Campaign. It takes place 25 years after the war with the Shivans. The HoL is now a major power and is at war with the T-V Alliance. The Shivans are a minor power now, doing their best to make trouble for everyone. All research has been turned to Shivan tech (I made this up to explain no new techs and ships).

Consisting of merely three missions, the story is quite simple; you must stop the Hammer of Light from acquiring Shivan technology. The HoL have captured an Orion class ship, the GTC Riser, which was carrying Shivan technology. Your wing was sent in to destroy both the captured vessel plus all hostiles. The rest of the campaign consists of mopping up HOL cargo depots.

Tips
Mission 1: Stolen Orion
As with pretty much every assault on a ship of cruiser class or above, lure the enemy fighters away from the vessel. This will make taking them down a bit safer. When the enemy wings are down, obliterate the GTC Riser.

Mission 2: Cargo Assault
A couple of Aten class enemy ships, four of them, make your job a bit hectic in this mission. To make life somewhat easier, take out the Ankhs early on. This will make the mission easier on your shields.

Mission 3: Surprise Bash
A deceptively simple intro will not prepare you for the Cain and Dragon class ships that will arrive when you least expect them. Take out the Ankh guns before the bad guys arrive. If you don't, you'll wish you did.

Availability
The campaign can still be found in the Volition Watch Archives. The Volition Watch Archives are not actively maintained anymore, however, so the campaign might not be available.

Comments
The campaign is one of the oldest user created campaigns still around, some eight and a half years old as of writing. While it does suffer from some quite standard drawbacks -- too much focus on seemingly endless waves of enemy wings, lack of bombers for taking out cruisers and enemy capital ships, et cetera, it is a fun little campaign. If you still have FS1 on your hard drive, give it a go. That is, if you can find it first.
Description
Blue Planet is set eighteen years after the Capella Incident which marked the end of the Second Shivan Incursion. The focus driving Terran engineering has been the construction of the portal which would reconnect the Sol system with the rest of the GTVA. Upon its completion, probes were sent to scout the surrounding area and to test the stability of the portal. Imbued with confidence after several successful missions, GTVA Command has deployed the GTD Orestes, a state-of-the-art destroyer, and her complement of ships to establish contact with a long-isolated Earth and to reunite the Lost Generation with humanity's ancestral home.

The Orestes and her ships embark on an historical journey which is to have profound consequences for the future of the GTVA, Earth, and the entire human race.
Story
Lieutenant Sunder Marcel never particularly enjoyed his assignment in the Luyten patrol. The pay wasn't bad, but this far from the central systems things got a little hazy. Nestled within asteroid belts and lurking over scarcely travelled supply lanes, it seemed there was always some desperate set of renegades waiting for their day's profit to come drifting by in poorly defended transport crates. The three pilots who jumped his convoy today, however, were not interested in money.

They need his help, and they're not prepared to take no for an answer. Already it's much too late to run; the landslide of events has long since started, and even now its dire effects are beginning to take hold. Things that were once clear now have no meaning, and reality is beginning to slip ...

<br>
<br>

Good Job. ~KR

Description
:12 years after the Second Great War, we discover some more Shivans in an uninhabited system on the other side of Terran space. This campaign is sequel to the Second Great War, in which we set up a blockade, and then go on the offensive. This campaign has many unique things, such as civil wars, a juggernaut on our side, a Colossus on the enemy side, multiple Sathanas and Colossus juggernauts, bombing runs, unique recon missions, and a collapse node, but you are on the wrong side of it. How will you survive?

Comments
The campaign is widely derided in the FreeSpace community as one of the worst third-party campaigns ever to be released. However, for some people, the campaign is so bad that it has come full circle and crossed the "so bad it's good" line. Whether to regard it as a terrible campaign or a MST3K-style funny/stupid campaign is a matter of individual preference.

:"Actually, in terms of mindless "let's blow a whole ton of **** up," it's rather enjoyable. For instance, I fondly remember one mission where you single-handedly have to take out about 18 or so assorted Shivan cruisers and corvettes. (Turns out a double Helios more than smashes a Cain to smithereens.) However, if you're looking for a coherent story and sensible ship use, it's probably not your cup of tea." ~Mongoose, HLP

Availability
The campaign is still available from the Volitionwatch Archives. However, the Volitionwatch Archives are not being maintained anymore, so it is just a matter of time before the below link stops functioning.
After the incident at Capella, the GTVA begins a large construction project at the Altair sector to learn more about the ancient civilization in the hopes those new discoveries may aid them in the war with the Shivans. But the project was not proceeding as planned, pirate activites are halting the constructions. It is time to send armed forces to stop the pirate strikes. The GTVA is facing an even larger enemy than they had expected. . .

Designer's notes
I would like to tell people that the author of these missions is not a native speaker of English, so grammar mistakes are expectable. He, however, hired some natives to check the grammar/spelling, but according to feedback, not everything is correct.

Also, don't expect the model meshes to be gorgeous and teeming with polies or high resolution textures. The main purpose of this campaign was to make top quality missions. If you see a bug in a mission, you are entitled to complain about it in the feedback thread.

Development
Work started on the campaign in March, 2003 but it was only released a year and three months later. The plot poutline was written in four days, later, only minor changes were applied to the story. Initially, using a Valkyrie was not an idea, but later I realised using a pre-made ship that many know would be ideal, especially under the circumstances the Valkyrie is used in this campaign.

The campaign had a forum at a server called Cold space, but that site went down pernamently. Then I found the Mod Database and submitted my campaign there.

In August, when I nearly completed all missions, I hired voice actors. Until December, only one mission was partially voice-acted and a few messages of another mission were voice acted. Any calculations I made made it clear that with voice acting, the campaign will never be released. So I abandoned voice acting.

A demo version was already released. Considering the full version has already been released, I deleted the demo version and replaced it with the full download. That's what I call a business! <br>
Releasing the Demo, I received negative feedback on grammar and spelling and I was forced to hire native speakers to do that for me. Checking all the missions grammar-wise took a very long time, but eventually the final release came to light on the 6th of July.

Regarding "ressurgence"
In proper English spelling, there is no such thing as ressurgence, but resurgence (re (meaing "again") + surge + -ence). This spelling mistake came about of my ignorance, and complete confidence in me knowing proper English spelling. I tried to defend this mistake of mine by saying it was a mascot, but I wasn't very convincing.

I admit making this mistake, and, having ignored the advice of my grammar checkers, I am the only one to blame for this. When it was brought to my attention, I deemed it too late to make this change, the campaign having been announced as "Renegade Ressurgence" everyone on the net.
FREDder's Notes
JAD3 was a headache, but a fun headache. With the exception of the first mission, every mission had a complete redoing. That completely trashed every part of the story I had first wrote down. But alas, I somehow recovered.

Some notes about the missions

Just Another Day
*Mission 1: I was actually going to use the Shivans on a Plane here, which is why SLJ was there. But then I swapped it out for a Sath.
*Mission 2: Finally a use for the Helios and Myrmidon! Unfortunately this is a mission where you can't use the Myrmidon.
*Mission 3: This was going to be the Stealth Mission with similar jokes as Mission 5. Instead it went somewhere else.
*Mission 4: This mission was done entirely for the Giant Robots. And the intro/promo/whatever. Gendo-Basudan is my favorite CommAni I did.
*Mission 5: Up until the last few hours of finishing the whole campaign, the guest star was Admiral Haberdashery, but since the D&D setting kinda put him way out of place. Instead you got Monty Python.
*Mission 6: The Shivans on a Plane was going to have a grand entrance, a ingame cutscene and fanfare and everything. But their role got cut (again) and they had 5 seconds of screen time at the very end.

Player Quotes
*"Guranteed 110% fun." -Nubbles
*"You made me smile today." -Colonol Dekker
*"Oooooooookay... Axem's campaigns have reached a new level of weirdness..." -Dark Hunter
*"Most anticipated campaign of the year" -ngtm1r
*"Hehehe...was fun...especially liked to shut up Terran Fraggin Command" -TrashMan
*"GTVAngelion was really funny... 'specially the intro cutscene music..." -Snail
*"Good job Axem, can't wait to play it." -chief1983
*"Mabye not as funny as the original, but the missions itself are much better, and rival with other campaigns, this also makes replaying the campaign more wortwhile - Joshua"
At first it was going to be called Just Yet Another Day, but Electric Boogaloo sounded much better.

I wanted to release this on JAD1's anniversary, but I got lazy. Instead I released it on my birthday. What a crappy present.

Discarded Quotes:<br>
Alpha 1: "This smells like a big bunch of deus ex..."<br>
Notes
This campaign has a direct sequel, Just Another Day 2: Electric Boogaloo.

FREDder's Notes
Okay, the campaign looks inspired by Deus Ex Machina, but that's only half of it. I had the idea to make a nonsense campaign, and was surprised that no one had done one like that before. Until I found DEM, which made me spend 5 days crying in a cellar. After that little bout, I decided to actually go and make another campaign sorta like it. The biggest thing I did copy from DEM was the "author" getting the Bosch comm ani. The Rakshasa message in mission 1? That's not based off of the unpronouncable destroyer in DEM, I just couldn't spell the class name! Other stuff may have been subconscious. Who knows.

Player Comments
This is probably the most hilarious freespace campaign out there. There's a huge WTF feeling all along... I was laughing so hard i could barely shoot straight. The same comment goes to the sequel, wich is pretty much the same entertaining value, simply hilarioustastic... I simply do not understand how an awesome campaign like this has still not been voice acted. ~KR

I recommend you to play this one with HDRish... why? Just do it and click commit! First time I played I had indeed the WTF feeling all along. The jokes and such are great, but the missions get boring after the joke effect runs out (Whats fun about "Kill everyone" six time in a row?) - Joshua
Description
Into the Halls of Valhalla (ITHOV) is a subsequent campaign to the community-wide known Derelict. The player's character is Commander Wesley McCrae, who gets reassigned to the Tania Australis system after being caught on espionage. McCrae gets ace wingmen, who are also banished from the core GTVA worlds. Initially, they face off a pirate organization, but later in the series of missions, it turns out that the GTVA faces off three enemies at once, all of them are also engaging each other.

The precedents of ITHOV are explain in Police Action, a four-mission-long minicampaign that is the official "Demo" for the main campaign.

Into the Halls of Valhalla requires FreeSpace Open. The missions were tested in the July 27, 2006 build. Older builds might also be able to run ITHOV, but I cannot guarantee that all missions work as they should. It is recommended that you use the July 27, 2006 (or newer) build to play the campaign.

After thirteen years of ground-breaking, diligent work, GTVA scientists have built a Terran Knossos in Delta Serpentis. This massive machine will once again allow the sub-space travel to Sol. Most rejoice at being able to see their homeworld again. Some however like things just the way they are. And others will take advantage of this reunification to foment war.

Now that the Shivans no longer pose a threat to the GTVA (see the Incursion Campaign), the final chapter in the Freespace universe is completed with the Return to Sol campaign.

You can download a copy of the Return to Sol campaign. It is designed for Freespace 2 retail, so it does not require FS2 Open. However, it has been tested to work with FS2_open 3.6.9. Please read and follow the instructions in the Readme.txt file for the campaign to work.
Caveat emptor; my first campaign. Arguably too easy, but was designed to be fun to play as opposed to difficult.

Player Comments
A very easy campaign, good if you just want to score kills. This would be a pretty good campaign if it had a bit more playtesting to excise a few major bugs. Other than that, it's not just a turkey shoot; Cleaning Crew does have a unique storyline.
Story
Though the shivan invasion of Capella was certainly one of the most significant occurrences of its time, it did not happen in a vaccuum of events.

As the final evacuation of Capella is put in motion, you are deployed to the other side of the galaxy for an assignment in Altair. On the other side of the jump node to uncharted space, an exploration convoy has returned after decades away. Oblivious to events elsewhere in the GTVA, the explorers do not understand why they must face continuous delays to be readmitted to alliance space and become evermore beligerent. A Leviathan cruiser is sent to blockade the node against the convoy, but this show of force only serves to heighten tensions.

You arrive on the scene when the GTC Omaha requests fighter cover and tensions reach a boiling point.
FREDder's Notes
I overcompensated from my previous campaign being too easy. Turn down your difficulty a notch when playing.

Some effort was gone to prevent the usual scenario of a ship being able to manuver and fight to its best ability no matter damage in this campaign; in addition most enemy ships that aren't earmarked for later destruction in FS2 (and there are several; see if you can spot them) can be destroyed, but a number of them will jump out unless disabled first.

Description
You are a young pilot assigned to the GTD Delacroix. The rebellion has been going on for almost 15 months now, and the fight with the NTF is in a stalemate. Follow the destroyer in it's war path against the NTF and witness it's destruction at the hands (claws?) of the Ravana..

After the ship is lost you join a newly formed Fast Response Task Force (all fast ships, including a strike carrier, so you move from system to system very often).
Fighting the NTF and the shivans, your unit will travel across the known space hoping to shift the battles in the GTVA's favor.

Experience the battles you heard about in briefings and rumors and fight for the future of the GTVA!

Notes
The Legion Hulk bug is still present, alltough fixed to an extent. It no more spins like crazy (when the Argo docks), killing everything in the vicinity. The Argo dock path is still strange and it will still carry the Legion into subspace with itself. All attempts at fixing his have failed.
The bug won't interfere with the mission tough.

EASTER EGG - scan cargo containers in Mission1 and see what tresures you find.

Player Comments
Well from my POV this has got to be one of the best user made campaigns I have ever played. It is full of twists and turns. You can not find a sigle mission where you are bored. The action is there the drama is there the skill to do your best in this campaign is there (well actualy the skill depends more on you the player). This campaign goes up there next to Derelict Homesick and the main FS2 campaign. I for one think anyone who is pasionate about FS should give this one a try. I for one was not disapointed and I can pretty much bet that you wont be either.

I for one can't wait for Chapter 2 of the campaign since..well....it left you out crawing for more. Let us all hope that T Man hase enough free time to do the second one ASAP.

I wont spoil the surprises for you but let me tell you that you have several new mod's available in this campaign or rather that feature in this campaign. You want to know more? Then go on and play the campaign.
