The Artemis D.H. is a simple reskinning of the GTB Artemis. It is unknown what D.H. stands for, but HLP members have suggested "Dark Hull" and "Death Head."

Despite the tech description, the Artemis D.H. is statistically no different than the regular Artemis.

Description:
FS2 Tech Room Description
The GTB Artemis D.H. is an experimental variant of the standard Artemis class. The most notable change is that the Artemis's factory-issued Han-Ronald engines have been replaced by the same Nankam NA-27f powerplant now found in the GTF Ares fightercraft. The D.H. variant is faster and more maneuverable than the standard Artemis bomber, at no cost to armor or armament. During the OpEval period, Artemis D.H. bombers are being deployed in only select squadrons in different theatres of the war. If the evaluation trials go well, wider deployment of the Artemis D.H. class is expected.
While many pilots, myself included, swear up and down that the Artemis D.H. is superior to the Artemis, this is, as Setekh has termed it, the "placebomber" effect. The only functional difference between the Artemis and Artemis D.H. is their texturing, as examination of the table files shows.

Besides multiplayer weapons compatibility, there is one minuscule difference in the model. The DH Artemis has only three tail fins. The standard has four.

You can "win" the GTB Artemis D.H. by completing the first SOC Mission loop (Second one grants you the Ares). This bomber, unfortunately, suffers from a small problem. They copied the GTB Artemis table entry and then forgot to change the maneuverability table entries. It was SUPPOSED to be more manouvrable (as seen in the tech entries) but they forgot to DO it. Which is a pity for a bonus bomber.

This bomber has one slight advantage over the original Artemis: it is much less visible in space due to its black hull. However, this is almost nil when they can still spot you on radar. It would be interesting to see someone make a stealth bomber out of this...

The GTF Loki is an experimental stealth fighter which was used by rogue Galactic Terran Intelligence forces during the Hades Rebellion. It later became an staple part of the NTF's fighter forces during the NTF Rebellion. Its high speed, weapons compatability, and maneuverability is offset by its low armor and weapons capacity.

Description:
FS1 Tech Room Description
Designed by GTI engineers, the GTF Loki is undoubtedly the best reconaissance craft in Terran or Vasudan service. Its hull shape and shielded reactor chamber lends itself to providing a low sensor profile, and is yet capable of very high speed maneuvers. Its relatively light armament and low armor rating make it unsuitable for extended firefights, however.

FS2 Tech Room Description
The GTF Loki is designated as a fighter, but it's more of a heavy reconnaissance craft. The Loki's micro-roughened hull and shielded exhaust chamber give it an extremely reduced profile to detection sensors. This makes it ideal for reconnaissance and infiltration missions that rely on stealth rather than firepower. Lacking the weaponry and armor to survive prolonged battles, the Loki can usually stay alive long enough for its high maneuverability and speed to discourage pursuers. Lokis are widely used by NTF forces.

Developer Notes
High max velocity offset by its tiny payload. High weapon capacity.

Name origin
The demonic figure of Loki is commonly believed to be the god of chaos in Germanic and Scandinavian myths. There are numerous stories about Loki, many depicting him differently, and contradicting each other in other aspects, too.
It is not terribly fast by FS2 standards, and it has very low missile capacity. The primary reason to prefer the Loki over the Perseus is its extreme maneuverability.

The Loki was never a superior fighter. It suffers from a small secondary capacity and weak shielding. In Silent Threat it was only marginally superior to the Valkyrie, and then only in a dogfight. In FS2 it is in over its head against the second-generation GTVA fighters. In its defense it was intended to be a stealth fighter, so comparison to the Pegasus might have been more appropriate...but it loses out there too.

Also, since the NTF uses this ship a ton in the first half of the game, you should be able to easily outfly it within the first few missions featuring the Loki. Although maneuverable, it lacks the firepower and protection of the Myrmidon or Herc II. If you fail at beating this one, you might want to rethink your piloting skills.

Most fans look upon this craft as inferior to any other fighter. This could be true, but anyone who does not rely only on secondaries can use this craft pretty well. It can carry the UD-8 Kayser and its primary layout is convenient. You can easily hit a medium-sized fighter with it. It is also very small and fast, making it a good interceptor if you are of a kind who does not use secondaries often.

Consistently underrated. People don't realize that the Loki is actually tougher and speedier than the Ulysses, and has a similiar teensy target profile. Guns are well placed, as well.

The Loki is a surprisingly capable interceptor. It functions much like a slightly heavier Valkyrie. Afterburner velocity is the second highest for anything you get to fly, and afterburner reserves are not bad either. It is fairly durable as well, and as noted above, primaries configuration is comfortable. However maximum normal velocity is too low for my tastes, and the sole secondary bank is too small. I'd prefer to take a Perseus instead.

This was good back in FS1, and it's still a decent ship. It's lost some of its advantage in FS2 due to better shielding and armor on the newer fighters, but the Loki is still a force to be reckoned with in the hands of an experienced dogfighter. It can truly be infuriating to have these swarming on you if they've got good pilots, as it's the Dragon of the GTVA. However, the AI is exceptionally stupid in this ship, so it's not too much of a problem in FS2}}
{{comment|The Sekhmet's four primary guns are mounted in a single bank, giving it a rate-of-fire advantage against just about anything, but also limiting its adaptiblity once commited to the field.

Considered by many to be THE BEST bomber in the game, while others prefer the Terran design philosophies of the Medusa and Ursa.

I agree with the previous commentators. The Sekhmet is a capable enough dogfighter in some hands and is capable of going in unescorted if properly armed. The only major flaw (if you want to call it that) is the lack of a second primary bank, meaning that carrying disruptors or the Maxim is not the best idea you've ever had. However, the rate-of-fire advantage offsets this, givng the Sekhmet enough teeth to engage damn near anything and come out alive. The Vasudans would do quite well indeed to scrap every Osiris in existence and replace them with the equivalent tonnage of Sekhmets.

A better dogfighter then the Tauret, given its armor and maneuverability. If you want to fly something that will take down a destroyer, as well as any bombers and fighers it launches, then take a Sekhmet.

Give this thing a Mekhu HL-7 or Prometheus S, and those four guns will tear apart any heavy fighter foolish enough to get in the way. This ship appears to be based off the SB Nahema, which seems to be where it inherited a great deal of its design: both have four guns (although the Nahema has them split into two banks), they have a very smiler design, and they have smiler levels of protection. The only significant differences are that this can mount better guns (Shivan primarys suck), the Nahema is faster, and the Sekhmet has more than double the bomb capacity. One of the best, if not THE best, bombers.}}
Easily one of the best fighters, if not the best. A simple joy to fly. Only weak point is the 4 gun mounts, but even then the other stats are so ridiculous you can wreak havoc.
Superior to the Shivan original Mara just like Snipes says.

As odd as it sounds, Into the Lion's Den is actually somewhat unkind to the Terran Mara, as you spend most of your time scrambling between widely spaced targets and don't really get the chance to stop and dogfight it much. Still, as can be seen from the above commentary, even a tiny taste of the SF Mara (Terrans) capablities is enough to make most people fall in love.

Best. Damn. Ship. Ever. Too bad Volition didn't make a mission where you could exploit it to its fullest extent.

My favorite fighter in the game. Sure, you could say the Erinyes has 8 gun banks to the Mara's 4, but the Mara has nearly twice the missile capacity and is significantly faster and more maneuverable.

A dream to fly. It's beyond a doubt the best fighter you can get your hands on. The only downside, as stated before, is four primary mounts and that the single mission doesn't really give you many chances to dogfight with it.

The Mara is a dream come true for any GTVA pilot. Not only is it very agile, it has a large afterburner capacity and cavernous missile banks. This, coupled with a massive reactor core that recharges enough power to fire Kaysers like Subachs, makes the Mara superior to any other GTVA fighter in almost every, if not every, respect. The only problem one might have is that the Mara doesn't have that much hull plating as the tech description says. The shockwave from a Shivan Comm Node can whittle its hull integrity from 100% to 25%.

Some credit the Mara with an ultra-powerful reactor because of its ability to shoot twin Kaysers with minimal energy drain, but before one uses that point, one must bear in mind that it only has four gun mounts. A Perseus can do the same thing. Even so, the speed and maneuverability of the Mara allow it get right up close to enemies, so often times primary firepower isn't really a problem.

How the hell does SOC fit so many missiles into this thing?! It's smaller than the Ares, yet it has even larger missile banks! And the armor isn't that thin, the Comm Nodes just explode VERY violently (antimatter, perhaps?). In any case, this is the uber-fighter. No serious weaknesses, and thick enough shields to take the brunt of any standard fighter weapon, including the UD-8 Kayser. If the GTVA could mass-produce these...}}

The largest space-faring warship ever constructed by Terrans or Vasudans, the GTVA Colossus was the result of twenty years of joint effort from dozens of contractors from across the Galactic Terran-Vasudan Alliance. Logging in with a length of six-kilometers, this behemoth was equipped with over eighty weapon turrets, in addition to over 240 combat spacecraft.

With the offensive power that exceeded most GTVA battlegroups, the Colossus was designed to combat the Shivans upon their return to Allied territory. The prospective target was one or more Lucifer-class super-destroyers, and it was deemed that the Colossus would not only have the firepower not only to destroy such a foe, but also to survive multiple hits from a Lucifers primary weapon system.

History
The first combat use of the Colossus was against the Neo-Terran Front. NTF forces proved to be no match for the Colossus and her battlegroup, and the rebels made every effort to avoid direct combat with the juggernaut. It can be truthfully said that it was the Colossus that was the ultimate factor in the NTF's collapse. With his fleet shattered, and the remnants being actively pursued and destroyed by the Colossus, Admiral Aken Bosch gave the order to flee GTVA space to the relative safety of the nebula beyond Gamma Draconis.

With the NTF defeated, the Colossus was finally to fulfil the role her designers had envisioned for her: the defeat of a Shivan incursion. However, as it turned out, the challenge was not to be SD Lucifer-class superdestroyers, but rather a SJ Sathanas-class juggernaut. Twenty years of constant struggle finally culminated with the Colossuss destruction of the Sathanas, all at the cost of moderate damage to the Colossus.

All would have been well was it not for the Shivans possessing multiple juggernauts. In the closing stages of the Battle of Capella, the Colossus was deployed to interdict Shivan traffic at the Gamma Draconis jump node in Capella to divert enemy forces and attention away from the Bastion, which was en route to collapse the jump corridor to Epsilon Pegasi. The ploy succeeded, as the Shivans first deployed a SD Ravana, then a SJ Sathanas to engage the Colossus. In her weakened state, it was obvious that the Colossus would not survive an engagement with another Sathanas-class juggernaut, and Allied Command ordered the Colossus to withdraw.

However, with the success of the Bastions critical mission in doubt, the Colossus disobeyed the direct order from Allied Command, and refused to disengage. Subsequently, the Colossus was destroyed with the loss of all hands. The thirty-thousand officers and crew of the Colossus willingly sacrificed themselves to ensure the continued survival of the billions of individuals making up the Terran and Vasudan species, and ultimately, the
Galactic Terran-Vasudan Alliance.
Narrator: The following is classified level Rho. Unauthorized access is punishable under the GTVA security act, Deneb convention, section 21.3.5. We vanquished the Shivans in the Great War but the hard questions remained. How would we confront the threat of future invasion? The Shivans might return at any time, any place, without warning. How would we fight the next threat to the very existence of our species? In 2345, on the tenth anniversary of the Shivan attack on Ross 128, the Vasudan emperor Khonsu II addressed the newly-formed GTVA General Assembly. The emperor inaugurated an ambitious and unprecedented joint endeavor: The GTVA Colossus.
Narrator: The Colossus is the most powerful space faring warship ever constructed. Spanning six kilometers from bow to stern, the Colossus has taken over twenty years to complete. Twelve Lucifer-class destroyers can fit within its massive hull. Its state-of-the-art weaponry includes forty-five laser turrets, fifteen flak guns, twelve missile batteries, and twelve beam cannons. The Colossus wields more firepower than five Orion-class destroyers combined. Sixty fighter and bomber wings are housed in its vast hangar and its crew numbers over thirty thousand. Among its major contractors are industry giants Triton Dynamics, Subach-Innes, and the Akheton Corporation. The alliance now wages war on multiple fronts: in Deneb, Alpha Centuri, Epsilon Pegasi, and the mysterious nebula beyond Gamma Draconis. Once deployed the Colossus will end these conflicts swiftly and decisively. ===FS2 Tech Room Description===
The GTVA Colossus resulted from an endeavor unprecedented in Terran or Vasudan history. This 6-kilometer-long behemoth is the result of 20 years of joint effort from dozens of contractors of both races. The Colossus is the most powerful space-faring warship ever made, bristling with over 80 weapon turrets. It also houses 60 fighter and bomber wings and requires a crew of over 30,000. The firepower of the Colossus is greater than that of most GTVA battle groups.
Name origin
In Latin, colossus meant "large statue". Nowadays in English, a colossus (lower case, as this is a common name) may refer to anything of giant sizes. Colossal is a related word.

One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World was the Colossus of Rhodes, a giant bronze statue that was constructed over the entrance of the harbour to the city of Rhodes.
{{Comment|
The GTVA Colossus was an excellent warship, equipped perfectly for the job it was designed for. While engaging the NTF hordes, we always knew the battle was over when the Colossus entered the fray. The Colossus' demise was one of the bravest sacrifices ever made by a ship in the GTVA. It remained in front of a Sathanas juggernaut, even though it had no chance of surviving, so that the Bastion might reach the Epsilon Pegasi node.

The Colossus is really out of its league against the Sathanas, but it was never designed for killing juggernauts. The Colossus' proper role is hunting and killing destroyers, a task at which it excels. It would take a very large number of smaller ships to threaten the Colossus; witness its single-handed destruction of the NTF.

The GTVA Colossus is not that great at killing ships of equal size to it as the above veterans have said. The placement of its main beam turrets are all over the ship, meaning that maximum firepower cannot be directed against heavier ships. However, this does also have its advantages. It means that no capital ship can be in a safe spot from it. It is also loaded with massive amounts of anti-fighter and bomber weaponry, making it a nightmare to attack. These anti-fighter weapons are also located around the main beams of the warship, making it more difficult to disable.

The GTVA Colossus...just saying that makes you get shivers down your spine. When you are fighting out on the "field" and you see the 6-kilometre behemoth, you can't help but to stop and stare at it. The Colossus in my terms means blond and majestic.

The Colossus is a superb ship in my opinion. Its weapon placement ensures no capship or fighter can attack it and stay safe. While not designed to confront ships like the Sathanas, if properly positioned it can take them on and emerge victorious. Its real strength lies in its anti-fighter weaponry and is a killer machine when confronting smaller warships.

It seems odd that it is the largest endeavour in Terran-Vasudan history with so many contractors, and with construction beginning well before the NTF Rebellion, and apparently the NTF and/or the average GTVA pilots didn't recognize or know about it. I don't buy it.

According to FRED-made simulations, it takes approximately 25 Nephilims to kill this thing, multiply that by two or three if you involve fighters escorting both the bombers and the Colossus. The Colossus better hope that it can make use of its 200+ plus fighters, because if not, this thing can get owned by bomber attack; most destroyers carry at least 40 fighters and bombers. Only an idiot would attack the Colossus with another capital ship, however; in general, it takes at least 6 destroyers to defeat one Colly.

The Colossus is to destroyers what a corvette is to a cruiser, bigger and armed well enough to make mince meat out of them, though well positioned destroyers can inflict notable damage to it they will die in the end. For example, if you do nothing to the NTF cruisers in Feint! Parry! Riposte!, they will maneuver into the Collosus' upper-rear blindspot and will beam the Colossus to death over the course of an hour while she is unable to return fire, as all of her beams are mounted on the front or sides.

I think that the weak spots of the Colossus are it's rear and top although its rear is defended by four TerSlashes and its top is defended by two. In a custom-made mission, I made the Colossus travel 10 clicks, while being attacked on all sides by destroyers of different variations. I placed a Hecate on the left side, and it was the first to be destroyed. The last warship that got destroyed was the Demon, which I placed in front of and somewhat above it. The only two surviving warships (which took down the Colossus) were the Hades and Hatshepsut, both of which I had placed at the rear-left and rear-right of the juggernaut respectively.

The Colly model is infamous for its low moment-of-inertia value, which causes it to swing around like a baseball bat during tight turns. Humans at the far end of the Colossus would experience over 20 G's during one of these swings. It's possible that the crew is kept close to the center-of-mass of the ship to ease this problem. Considering that the Colossus is stated to have a crew of 30,000 while an American supercarrier has less than 1/20th the volume of the juggernaut and has a crew of 5,000, it's possible that crew quarters are relatively small and are only found near the center of mass.

This thing needs more firepower to justify its size. A lot more. The "more firepower than 5 Orions" boast from the cutscene would mean 15 BGreens and 5 TerSlashes. Replace all the BGreens with BFGreens and the TerSlashes with BGreens and maybe it will be adequately armed. More fighters too--at least 1,000. This thing is bigger than 10 Orions, for God's sake.

You want more firepower than 10 Orions? Replace the Colossus's BGreens and TerSlashes with Shivan Super Lasers. THAT is a fearsome ship.}}
The best turret in the game, but that doesn't say much considering how weak all blob turrets are.
The GTD Hades was a fusion of Terran and Shivan military technologies. It was constructed by Galactic Terran Intelligence (GTI), a rogue branch of the GTA. In 2335, GTI leaders sought to overthrow the provisional GTA government established in Delta Serpentis. After the defeat of the GTI and the destruction of the Hades, the GTA classified the details of this research at level Omega. There are rumors that the Alliance has attempted to reconstruct the Hades to learn more about the GTI's activities. These reports have yet to be confirmed by government sources.
Has too many hitpoints, in Secrets Revealed, standard practice is to hide in the "trench" halfway between fore and aft of this ship, and jam your keyboard's firing key down. I've found however, that this is not as effective in Freespace 2. The weakest point of the Hades is the horrible protection of its subsystems. An Orion, although it has 1/4 - 1/8 the armor, can win in a fight with a Hades simply because the Hades will be disabled and mostly disarmed within 30 seconds of the battle. I've seen an Orion take out a Hades with realitive ease, although it took a while.

The Hades is pretty capable in FS2. I've seen it take on multiple Demons and Molochs at once and survive. But its antifighter armament is decidely FS1-era. The Hades' effectiveness against Shivan ships often surprises people, but it is actually quite simple when one comes down to it: Shivan ships do not have slash beams, greatly decreasing their chances of damaging the Hades' subsystems.

I disagree with the last comment, the first is correct. The Hades can be destroyed easily by an Orion because of its pathetic subsystem armor. Although its two BGreens would usually rip most destroyers to shreds, the fact that a single well-aimed Stiletto II can disable this bohemoth makes them almost useless.

I find, that even though the scope of the Hades is mind boggling (especially the first time you actually fly over the whole thing, and before seeing things like the Collosus), it is fairly weak. In the FS1 mission where you are assigned the task of destroying the Hades, even though I had lost all of my wingmen, and it took me two hours, I found I was able to single-handedly destroy the ship, by disabling it's underside cannons, engines, and sensors, and then just floating in the space below it... In an Athena. I actually found the squads of re-spawning Lokis more of a challenge, aside from the sheer amount of HP the Hades had.

I find the FS1 Hades to be a bit more difficult to destroy than the Hades in FS2. For some sick reason, in FS2, the Hades has only ONE engine subsystem...and it's located at, of all places, the point where the destroyer's engines meet! You could fire an SGreen at that spot and the Hades will be disabled! Even ships smaller than itself have better subsystem defences!

If you give this thing more subsystem armor (and give it back the Shivan Super Lasers in FS2), it becomes evil incarnate (and the only thing I've ever seen take on the SJ Sathanas ALONE and live). If the GTVA were to mass-produce this modified version as a Juggernaut killer, the Shivans would be in for a lot of pain. As it stands, however, it's just heavily armored cannon fodder.}}

Easily one of the best fighters, if not the best. A simple joy to fly. Only weak point is the 4 gun mounts, but even then the other stats are so rediculous you can wreak havoc.

Best. Damn. Ship. Ever. Too bad Volition didn't make a mission where you could exploit it to it's fullest extent.

My favorite fighter in the game. Sure, you could say the Erinyes has 8 gun banks to the Mara's 4, but the Mara has nearly twice the missile capacity and is significantly faster and more manueverable.

How the hell does SOC fit so many missiles into this thing?! Its smaller than the Ares, yet it has even larger missile banks! And the armor isn't that thin, the com nodes just explode VERY violently (antimatter, perhaps?). In any case, this is the uber-fighter. No serious weaknesses, and thick enough shields to take the brunt of any standard fighter weapon, including the UD-9 Kaser. If the GTVA could mass-produce these...}}
Its unusual configuration was inspired by the Apsu-Hek, a creature that once inhabited the deserts of Vasuda Prime. The Apsu-Hek has become an emblem of the Vasudan diaspora, and the Tauret continues the tradition of symbolic design. Armed with four gun mounts and two missile banks, the Tauret has the speed and firepower to challenge both fighters and warships.
{{comment|
The Tauret is an exceptional Vasudan heavy assault fighter, in the same family as the Hercules Mark II but better in almost every way. It carries an additional pair of guns (6 mounts total), moves faster, and has larger missile bays. It's still not a really good dogfighter, but for its given role it's probably the best you could ask for.

The Tauret has the qualities that make a heavy assault fighter attractive (thick shields, tough hull, near-bottomless secondary bays), yet it also has speed and maneuverablity that are closer to those of a space superiority fighter then an assault. In the hands of a skilled pilot the Tauret can fight on even or nearly even terms with just about any other fighter in the game.

Small profile except from below or above.

Cannot carry the Maxim gun, thus reducing the effectiveness of this ship against capital ships. Otherwise, this is a decent Vasudan stand-in for the GTF Erinyes.

This is probably one of the best Vasudan fighters, if not the best. That "Poor" maneuverability rating is rubbish; this fighter can act as an interceptor, no problem at all! It even has more missile space than the GTF Ares. Compare this: both missile banks of the Tauret can hold 80 Tornadoes each, while that of the Ares can only hold 72 in the first bank, and 80 in the second. If Hornets were just as good as Tornadoes, this ship can literally obliterate anything below corvette class.

The Tauret is let down by its primary energy supply. Its recharge is respectable, the same as either Hercules' and greater than the Myrmidon's even if only a little more than half that of the exceptional Ares. However, its energy reserves are scarcely more than half that of the Hercs or Ares and two thirds that of the Myrm. This is a common weakness of Vasudan craft and limits their ability in extended engagements.

Don't fly this fighter like a Herc II. The Tauret has less shielding then the Herc, has slightly better acceleration, and is slightly less maneuverable as well, but is faster by about 10 m/s when cruising or afterburning. Also as was mentioned before, although it can recharge just as fast as the Herc II it has an additional two guns, and it's weapon energy reserves are 2/3 the size, so don't put in quad Kaysers like you would in an Ares. It does however has exceptional firepower, with six primary and two 100 Hornet slots. Honestly I'd much prefer losing this fighter and its small speed and firepower advantage for the stamina and hardiness of the Herc II.

Maneuverability is better than stated, speed is still slightly slow (but faster than the Herc II), can't carry the Maxim Cannon (but can still carry the Kaser and Prometheus S), cavernous missile banks (both are the same size as the Ares' largest bank!)... Load up with Harpoons, Trebs, or Hornets/tornados and Kasers/Mekhu HL-7s, fly like a space superiority, and watch your kill count skyrocket.
