"Despite the initial success of the Mentu design in an anti-ship role, many of the class were stripped of their heavy beam weapons and relegated into anti-fighter escort role shared with the ageing Aten-class. In order to alleviate the absence of a strong anti-ship Cruiser, the Vasudan branch of the military designed and commissioned a new heavy cruiser for the fleet. Equipped with a mix of capital and anti-aircraft beams, the Mafdet is a formidable cruiser, fully capable of supplementing the larger Vasudan warships in firepower. Early field operations however have revealed a major blind spot aft of the ship which may negatively affect its production and deployment."
