Description:

Ancient-Shivan War Tech Room Description

The Minos Superdestroyer is a unique capital ship rarely seen but always rumoured by officers and veterans. Its inception coincided with the development of the Malia cruiser. As such, they bear many of the same experimental technologies and facilities. However, the Minos was built with survivability and self-efficiency in mind. Operating independently from any fleet, the Minos instead rides amongst the shadows fulfilling missions too highly sensitive or hazardous for coventional fleet destroyers. Further information detailing this vessel is classified and special authorization is required to view it.

HTL's Tech Room Description

The oddly designed Minos class superdestroyer is probably command center of every Ancient big battlegroups constantly roaming around Ancient-controlled space and searching for shivans and influences of other races alike. A formidable warship with outstanding firepower is relying mostly of it's broadside heavy plasma cannons as it's primary weapon, also utilizing single spinal heavy beam cannons to mimic shivan shock-jump tactics. Minos is also equipped with extremly advanced sensor array, systems to generate local substance inihibition fields and other advanced equipment. We believe that Minos is state of art Ancient technology, designed to toe-to-toe with the most powerfull warships like shivan destroyers, but also to act as long-range local command center. Only two Minos warships were ever encountered, and both are flagships for larger forces constantly surrounded by attending fleets. Armament of Minos is semi-symetrical. Plasma cannons on the left side are placed close to eachother to maximize their power output against single target, while rightsided cannons are placed all across the lengts of the ship for long broadside duels with other larger vessels.

Developer Notes

HTL version is following original vibe of the ship closely, but has destroyable subsystems, shield mesh requested by one of HLP members and more turrets. It's inverted relatively to the original. Don't ask why. Shield is disabled by default. All magenta bubble-like things are actually destroyable subobjects.

Veteran Comments

I regret that ASW III was never completed and Minos never saw a daylight. However I doubt if ASW table or model are actually finished. Despite having 7 cannon turrets, it can focus fire from only three at single direction. It has only one spinal cannon, so it's not effective shock jumper at all. It was rather designed for long and exhausting broadside combats with other large warships. Anti fighter defence is the coolest thing of this ship as turrets are arranged in unique way, but also it's greatest weakness. Both sides of front and hangarbay section consists majority of Minos point defences, leaving lots of blind spots and making the superdestroyer vulnerable for bomber strikes. HTL model is improving it's point-defence screen and poor anti-warship firepower.
