Darkness Rising

FreeSpace Darkness Rising was an early OEM release of FreeSpace The Great War which included only the first 10 missions of FreeSpace (up to First Strike), including the training missions. Darkness Rising was bundled together with some computers as a promotion.

One notable aspect of Darkness Rising was the fact that it included planet bitmaps and afterburner trails that were not included in the full release of FreeSpace 1. Planet bitmaps were added in with FreeSpace 2, but afterburner trails were not included until they were added by the Source Code Project.
