Back to User-made Ships

The GTBs Moscow is a user-made Terran battleship.

What originally started out as an unfinished, 140-polygon model by Black Wolf was given to veteran 3D modellers of the HLP community to work on in turn. This project, titled Cumulative Projects, started on August 31, 2007. Over the course of the next two years, several members of the community worked on it, one by one. Each member made a modification of the model, submitted it online, and let another member work on that modified model. Some time after said modelling project was abandoned, someone enlarged the latest incarnation of the model into a much larger ship and reclassified it as the GTBs Moscow, which resulted in this model.

With the revival of this project on December 29, 2011, the Moscow is once again a work-in-progress, rather than an abandoned, ship model.

Veteran Comments

The image that you see above is a vague representation of the current Moscow at best, hence the parenthesized text. Water actually made some Deimos-esque textures and maps for the Moscow, but for whatever reason, the version uploaded onto FreeSpaceMods.net, i.e. the one in the picture above, does not have these maps, instead sporting a single texture stretched across the entire ship. Black Wolf has since revived the project, so it is now effectively back to being a work-in-progress project rather than an abandoned one.

I think the "Stretchmap" version was created by someone who worked outside of the cumulative modelling thread and decided to do it his own way or something. As such it should be considered a 'branch' of the 'evolution' process.
