Description:

Inferno: Nostos Tech Room Description

Terran multirole fighter.

With RNI's Myrmidon an abject failure and the aging Perseus returning to its intended role of bomber intercept, the Admiralty saw a need for a new multirole combatant. Drawing on its experience with the Apollo and Hercules fighters, Han-Ronald produced the Ereshkigal spaceframe. A true generalist of a spacecraft, the Ereshkigal's weaknesses are precisely balanced with its strengths. Its limited primary hardpoints are tightly packed for optimal effect. Its reduced speed and maneuverability compared to dedicated dogfighters is offset by its slimmer profile and superior durability. The Ereshkigal, commonly referred to as the 'Eresh' by its pilots, has gained a reputation for reliability in any combat scenario, and is expected to serve as a supplemental fighter for years to come.

A solid all-around performer. What makes the Eresh stand out is its absolutely superb gun configuration. It only has four hardpoints (don't be fooled by the six on the actual model) but they are by far the best of any strikecraft since the Athena, except this one is actually meant to win dogfights.

This craft is as slow as the Hercules Mk. 2, but it's her only strong flaw. The Ereshkigal inherited her first primary bank from its mother model - the Hydra, and it was originally designed as a sniper rifle in an unspecified mod, so the first bank is situated just below your aim gauge. In Inferno Nostos, this bank is perfect for the Rapier. Avoid using it with weapons with large muzzleflash, as they will appear in front of your screen and may cover a large part of it. Strong armor and shield in combination with well-placed secondary banks makes this craft proper successor to the Apollo and an excellent hunter-killer. Small top speed is severely limiting its potential as an interceptor, so if you pick this craft for escort mission, you rather stay within the flak envelope of your capital ships, snipe incoming bombs with primaries, then go for some kills with a volley of Hurricanes or Shadows. The Ereshkigal remains a viable option also in the upcoming Act II of Nostos, as the first primary bank provides an exceptional setup for the Aquinas long-range anti-hull cannon.

Definitely one of the more flexible crafts, and a good supplement between the Herc III and Perseus Advanced. The Vulcan and Prometheus can chip away at strike craft at dogfighting range. For disarming capitals, it can't carry the Corinthos, but the Stiletto allows it to hold its own at range and this craft is protected enough should the Hastor become a necessity.
