Galactic Terran-Vasudan Intelligence
Galactic Terran-Vasudan Intelligence (GTVI) is the intelligence branch of the Galactic Terran-Vasudan Alliance. The GTVI's mission is to find information on the forces hostile to the GTVA. After the Hades Rebellion by the GTI, it is probably safe to assume that the GTVI is under much stricter surveillance to prevent another rebellion.
The relation between the GTVI and Special Operations Command, if any, is not known; the two are referenced together when Alpha 1 is sent on a "covert assignment with Special Operations Command (SOC), in conjunction with Galactic Terran-Vasudan Intelligence (GTVI)." The SOC conducts covert and undercover operations behind enemy lines. During the NTF Rebellion, the SOC exchanged intelligence information with GTVI.
The GTVI also have a Research and Development (GTVI R&D) arm who created the Target Acquisition and Guidance system (TAG) that was used in the Second Shivan Incursion. The GTVI also created the Ursa's armor, at least for the Ursa variant used in FreeSpace 2 (the techroom description has a possible inconsistency).
