Description:

Wings of Dawn Tech Room Description

The Caliburn is the newest assault fighter available to the LSF fleets. Designed in NC0139, the Caliburn is intended to hold its own in a dogfight while carrying the punch needed to threaten enemy capital ships. Its standard loadout consists of pulsar cannons capable of vaporizing lightly-shielded fighters in a single hit, though the system can be switched out for VX-08 Plasma Cannons depending on mission profile. Due to a contractor conflict with the powerplant provider Zeonic, the Caliburn has been temporary fitted with a less powerful powerplant. Combat tests have revealed that the current powerplant is insufficient to power the craft's systems, resulting in slow capacitor recharge rates for both shield and weapons. It is expected that a refit with rectify this issue shortly.

The reflective armor fitted on the Caliburn is effective at absorbing hits from energy-based weapons, but is considerably less durable against solid projectiles.

'HBV1F' Fusion Powerplant, output rated at 10338 kW
Maximum forward velocity: 65
180-degree turn time Yaw: 2.75 seconds
180-degree turn time Pitch: 2.9 seconds
Hull armor strength rated at 1600
7th Generation 'LoNM-1000' heavy fighter shield generator, strength rated at 2500

For a heavy fighter, it really handles much more like a bomber. It's like the Myrmidon in terms of handling except much worse. HOWEVER, if you can somehow line up those guns on your target, the poor victim is in for a real world of hurt. Good luck doing that, though. In the end, I would put this off and wait for the Caliburn-C to become available instead of using this thing.

Take the Ray III-W instead if you want to fly something with firepower. At least that can turn and aim at stuff properly. With the Caliburn its best to go into a spin, spray, and pray than to actually try and line up shots against the more nimble opponents like the Cordi — you'll actually kill them faster that way.
