You end up in the vicinity of Eris Station, a UEF installation in the Kuiper Belt abandoned by the Jovians early in the war. The Vasudans are nowhere in sight. Things are OK, albeit wary, when an unauthorized transmission is detected from the Reshadiye. Not long after, the local intrasystem gate goes into shutdown, a pocket nuke goes off in the transport's engine room, and the comm bands are blanketed with jamming.

And then two wings of Gef Scimitars show up. This is your cue; start taking them out. Between you and the White Guard, they don't last long. After the bandits are splashed, you are tasked with tracking down an unidentified blip on the radar. Fly toward it, and about 8 klicks later you'll see a GTVA AWACS vessel, the Spectre; however, it will jump out as soon as it enters your weapons range. Double-time it back to the Reshadiye, where the UET Erin and some more Knights will show up to retrieve the Elder and take them to a secondary negotiation site. The Elder's shuttle is launched, and there is some more dialogue between you and the Elder. In the midst of that, Sir Andrej will broadcast a warning about stealth fighters...right before 12 Pegasi, armed with Maxim cannons, utterly disintegrate the Elder's shuttle -- and, coincidentally, the Elder. The Pegs will try for some more kills for another 30 seconds or so, then jump out. There's nothing you can do to save the Elder's shuttle; there are 12 of them, they fire from maximum range, and they're invisible to radar. So don't feel bad.

More dialogue follows, mostly people reeling and Laporte raging at the Tevs. Then Admiral Recamai shows up...in the Shepseskaf. Most unusual. Dialogue follows, then some Gefs, led by Sergei Gwilym, show up to attack the ship "for the Buntu". The Shepseskaf fires up her secondary drive and jumps out. The Gefs, meanwhile, turn their attention to you. The Knights order you to jump out and take the evidence of the incident back to Command. You can stay and attack, but there are 12 of them, and there are no checkpoints in the mission, so if you die, you will have to restart the entire second half again.

MISSION 12
ACT 2, MISSION 05

Fighter squadron: U/C

Description: U/C

Background

The arrival of the Pesedjet in Sol space has made the UEF wary; the Vasudans entering the war, even if only to provide logistical support, would strengthen the GTVA's war efforts drastically. However, the rescue of the logistics ship by the Wargods has opened the door for diplomatic relations with the Vasudans. Admiral Recamai, the commander of the GVD Shepseskaf and a member of the Vasudan Medjai, has agreed to meet with one of the Federation's Elders at a classified neutral location. In the interests of discretion, it has been agreed that each representative will come aboard a transport with a small escort force.

The best choice for meeting with Admiral Recamai would be Elder Svetlana Hendrikssen, a physicist who worked with Vasudans during the Great War; however, she is not fit to travel. Instead, Elder Lin Taudigani will make the voyage who, aside from being an accomplished political scientist, can also speak Vasudan in both the sitting and standing forms. In addition to taking two Knights of the White Guard as her escort, she has, at the Vasudans' urging, requested that two Wargods also join the escort. In fact, a member of the Pesedjet's crew has specifically requested that Noemi Laporte be there.

The plan is simple: Meet the Elder's transport at Luna City, escort her to the negotiation site, guard against unwanted shenanigans, and escort her home.

Walkthrough

This is a scramble mission, so you're stuck with your ship, which is a Kent armed with its standard loadouts of one bank each of Mauls, Rapiers, Hellfires, Darts, and Javelins. This should be sufficient, considering that the White Guard will be loaded for bear. More like elephant, really.

Anyway. This mission is easy; fly to Luna City and listen to the dialogue. When you get to the Reshadiye, jump out when ordered.

Notes

 • The Elder's shuttle seems to be modeled on the GTA's Hermes-class escape pod. Why an Elder would be transported in that is beyond the scope of this article.
