The SSG Trident is a Shivan-designed sentry gun. Sporting two heavy lasers and thin armor, the Trident poses little threat to most ships, although it can be extremely dangerous when placed in mass quantities.

Description:

FS1 Tech Room Description

We believe that the sole purpose of the Trident is to guard Shivan repair and supply depots. It is not too strong, but in mass quantities, can be dangerous.

FS2 Tech Room Description

The SSG Trident line of sentry gun platforms is well known from numerous encounters during the Great War. These are still used to guard Shivan installations, but many of the stronger Belial platforms have been deployed to the most critical defensive positions.

Name origin

A trident is a spear-like weapon, or a simple staff with three pronges. Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction, is often associated with using a trident.

The Trident was the most powerful sentry gun in FS1, but after being carried on to FS2 it is outclassed by the Alastor and Belial guns.

It is very easy to destroy parts of the gun, like the legs, compared to other sentry guns.
