Odd as it may seem, Shivan laser weapons do really poor damage to their targets. Apparently, Shivans depend on the quality of their ships and their vast numbers much more than they depend on their weapons. The Shivan Mega Laser is the slowest refire rate Shivan laser weapon. It does damage in between the Shivan Heavy Laser and the Shivan Light Laser.
Shivan weapons are weaker than their Terran/Vasudan "counterparts" and it is just an illusion that they seem to do more damage. You kill a lot of them; they only kill one of you.
