Silent Threat: Reborn continuity
In the FreeSpace community, G-canon (short for Goober5000/Galemp canon) is a term that fans have coined to refer to the continuity centered on Silent Threat: Reborn's interpretation of the Hades Rebellion. "Fanon" in relation to the overall FreeSpace universe is a contentious issue; while G-canon is not V-canon (that is, universe information published by Volition) it expands upon Volition's universe and is internally consistent. Thus, G-canon presents an "expanded universe" for other writers to reference to tie their works into an existing timeline.
Timeline
G-canon is established by the official Volition campaigns and contributions by Galemp, Goober5000, Blaise Russel, and Eishtmo. Campaigns considered G-canon are:
- Terran-Vasudan War Project
- The Great War
- Silent Threat: Reborn
- Echo Gate
- Shrouding the Light: Origins
- Shrouding the Light
- Operation Templar (FSPort Single Player version)
- Second Shivan Incursion
Proposed campaigns in this continuity include Vasudan Imperium and Koth. While both Goober5000 and Galemp are heavily invested in Scroll of Atankharzim it remains to be seen whether this campaign will also be G-canon, with Sesquipedalian as project leader emeritus. Most grayed-out information in the Timeline is G-canon.
Important Ships
G-canon includes several important capital ships not present in V-canon.
- GTD Legion: Flagship of the GTI, destroyed in the Battle of Deneb, as depicted in the FreeSpace 2 opening cutscene.
- GTD Repulse: Flagship of the GTI's Research and Development branch. Captured and recommissioned; later defected to the NTF.

G-canon also introduces several new characters to the FreeSpace universe.
- Andreas Rybak, director of the GTI's rogue elements.
- Marcus Glaive, commander of the GTI Research and Development fleet.
- Admiral Amentep, commander of the PVD Guardian.
