Since when does "OT" stand for Operation Thresher? I've never seen that acronym used anywhere before now. I don't think it's appropriate to just make up random acronyms and redirect everything. It has to be an established and understood acronym before redirecting can happen IMO. - Snail 17:56, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I do use that acronym. The Yes to No ratio is 1:1. --- Mobius
    • You're also the only person who uses the acronym I believe. As I said, it has to be an established acronym, not a random one. -- Snail 19:29, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
    • Unfortunately, he's right. I have NEVER heard OT used. Try not to pull random acronyms out of the air when making a contribution. -- sigtau
    • Operation Thresher is barely mentioned and when it was, as a failure. As soon as someone makes a Campaign based around it, fine. But still largely is used to denote Off Topic. --Zacam
      • "OT" is generally used to mean "Off Topic". -- Droid803 19:33, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
        • "OT" stands for 'Off Topic'. General Battuta 19:35, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
          • The Yes to NO ratio is 1:5. Happy now? - Snail 19:38, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
            • Even if it is 1:100 the redirect is valid. The Wiki is to provide info and I don't see how this page can hurt. Also, "Off Topic" has nothing to do with the Wiki. What are you yelling at? This redirect is not damaging anything/anyone. --- Mobius
              • He might have a point there, in that it's not hurting anything, but it seems potentially confusing. A search for 'OT' should simply return no results.General Battuta 19:58, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
              • You were saying how the small c in the NTSc Hinton in FSU misleads people. Having this page might mislead people into thinking that OT is the canonical designation for Operation Thresher. Which it's not. And it could also mean Operation Templar! -- Droid803 19:59, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
