The XWP Athena

Description:

Tech Room Description

The Athena bomber was the lightest bomber in the GTA fleet during the Fourteen Year War between the GTA and PVE. GTI developed the Athena to be completely incompatible with Vasudan electronics to deter reverse-engineering, but this made the bomber unable to mount later weapons systems developed in conjunction with allied Vasudans. The obsolete Athena was mothballed and eventually retired completely once the Zeus and later Artemis bombers entered service. Rogue engineers have salvaged some Athena hulls to use as experimental weapons platforms, and those encountered in the field may be wielding unknown and exotic prototypes.

Designer's Comments

This radical modification of the GTB Athena merges two fuselages, and replaces one cockpit/life support system with a giant cannon, for use as an experimental weapons platform. The co-pilot acts as a dedicated gunner for this weapon, monitoring targeting and testing results in real-time.

The table is set up to use an AAA beam so be sure Beam-free-all by default is set in your missions if you intend for this to be a player option, or if it appears in waves.
