The '''Long Range Flak''' is a [[flak gun]] used in [[Portal:FreeSpace 2|FreeSpace 2]]. This type of flak gun is mounted on the [[GTD Hecate|GTD ''Hecate'']] and [[SJ Sathanas|SJ ''Sathanas'']] and primarily used as a defensive weapon to wear down approaching enemy fighters and bombers from beyond the range of most energy-based weapons and aspect-seeking missiles. Long Range Flak has the greatest targeting range of all flak guns&mdash;nearly three times that of the Heavy Flak&mdash;but does the least hull and shield damage per shot.

This is what the [[SJ Sathanas]] uses as its forward flaks to cover its 4 main beam cannons. It can shoot far, very far.


If you have any breached quadrant, you '''will''' die very fast.  When you have to destroy the first [[Sathanas]]'s beam turrets, you should pipe more power into the shields to avoid being killed by the flak.
