You are assigned to the 107th Ravens heavy attack squadron. You get the GTF Hercules Mark II fighter, which has a tremendous warhead capacity, but as slow as a snail and as easy target as a disabled grandmother. You have to compensate to these specifications. For this mission, have a bank of GTM Harpoons, and a bank of GTM Tempests. The mission begins, and in front of the Unknown subspace gate, there are Shivan fighters patrolling the area with a SC Rakshasa-class cruiser (SC Behemoth). As always, attack the fighters first. Try to keep a distance away from them, and launch your GTM Harpoon missiles onto them. The SC Rakshasa cruiser has a single anti-fighter beam. Switch to GTM Tempest and fire a salvo at it. After its main beam cannon is down, head against the fighters. Without its beam cannon, the Shivan cruiser is quite vulnerable. To make your attack runs safer, destroy the Weapons subsystem of it. The second wave of fighters jump in after the Behemoth is destroyed. You have to have luck to survive against them, most of your wingmen fall because of their inability to defend themselves and their ultra-slow fighters do not seem to want to move anywhere. Command promises to send in two warships (GTD Carthage, GVCv Danshor). Until these vessels arrive, you need to do as much damage to the Shivans as you can. After these vessels arrive, you must pull back to them, and you survive the second run. The last Shivan run is quite different than the two last ones. A SC Cain cruiser (SC Goliath) jumps in with bombers and fighters. Stay away of the Cain cruiser, the Carthage can handle it without much trouble. Rather be focused on fighters who are attacking you. If you are free, you can assist the Carthage against the bombers. In most cases, these warships can neutralize the third Shivan wave on their own. But if you want to get a medal, you have to defend both vessels.
