Battle of Endor Syndrome refers to the common tendency of beginner mission designers to create a massive battle with lots of capital ships, fighters, and activity. The main problem with such a mission is the inability of the player to have any meaningful impact upon the outcome of the battleThis problem was recognized as early as the days of Descent:FreeSpace, and VolitionWatch contributor Zarathud wrote an article about it.

Ironically, the FS2 mission High Noon has been suggested as a Battle of Endor Syndrome mission when the player has managed to destroy all four beam cannons of the Sathanas.  This is because, despite the limited number of capital ships in the mission, the player's actions cannot affect the outcome.

The Hammer of Light-controlled Altair Shipyards in STL: Origins.

Shrouding the Light cemented Blaise Russel's reputation as a master of FreeSpace campaign design. Unusual in that it is both a Great War-era campaign and a Vasudan campaign, it combined a fresh look at existing FreeSpace history with imaginative and well-designed missions. It subsequently received an "expansion pack" in Shrouding the Light: Origins, a series of campaign vignettes serving as a loose prequel.
