The Block 50 Perseus, commonly referred to as the Perseus Advanced, integrates the fighter's four primary hardpoints into a single bank to maximize its primary firepower. An additional missile pod improves the Perseus's secondary capacity, and the addition of a third engine and accompanying afterburner capacitor gives the Perseus incredible linear speed and tremendous afterburner endurance. Its principal weaknesses include antiquated active-armor technology and a reactor that is not quite able to keep up with the demands of the Perseus' onboard systems.

In Nostos, this craft excels in missions where speed becomes paramount. One of the best perks with this Perseus is secondary compatibility: Shadows and Maelstroms are the bread-and-butter of dogfighting, while both the Stiletto III and Corinthos LRM allow you to pick off critical turrets at long ranges.

I don't recommend taking the Vulcan with this craft, if you absolutely need to take it, bring a bank of Hurricane dumbfire rockets to lessen the ammo constraint, and have the support ship on call when your ammo goes below 40%, or on every break. The Subach HL-12 is arguably the best primary to use with this craft in Act 1, as it deals the best anti-shield damage with a respectable output against hulls, and the majority of EA strikecraft (the later Claymores and especially their bombers) will have dense shielding.}}

GTF Perseus Advanced.

Description:

INFR1 Tech Room Description

The Advanced Perseus is one of only two Capella-era fighters left in service. However, unlike the SOC's Advanced Artemis, this interceptor was customized by Nankam Aeronautical for increased speed and firepower. Because it's a top-notch interceptor, the Advanced Perseus is equipped with high-capacity weapon energy and afterburner fuel reserves for top performance over an extended period. The ship is equipped with a single fire-controlled, quad-linked cannon system, and three missile batteries.

Inferno Nostos Tech Room Description

Terran intercept fighter.

When Nankam Aeronautical's Perseus entered deployment in 2367, it quickly became a pilot favorite for its generally superb performance. Although intended as a bomber interceptor, the Perseus made such a strong showing during the Second Incursion that the Admiralty re-roled the Perseus as a space superiority fighter. Unfortunately, advancements in avionics, propulsion systems, and weapons technology have proved increasingly taxing on the Perseus' aging reactor design. In 2390, faced with the fighter's inability to maintain its superb all-around performance, Nankam chose to specialize, designing the Block 50 upgrade to return the Perseus to its intended interceptor role. While this redesign was successful, it's obvious that the Perseus' time is coming to a close.

Quadruple Hastors (the default loadout available with this ship in the INF R1 campaign, and by far the best choice) will shred pretty much anything in the Perseus Advanced's path as long as you have sufficient juice. The quad Hastors combined with the large missile capacity and strong shields make it a somewhat unbalanced craft. Despite the Hastor's low shield damage (its performance resembles the Maxim in some regards), the sheer volume of fire being put out by this ship with crush anything short of a Nephilim and unshielded ships like freighters will be annihilated. The quad-linked primary bank leaves you with only one weapon slot, so don't take this ship into battle if you want to disable, rather than destroy your target.
