General
AWACS is the acronym for Airborne Warning and Control System. In FreeSpace, the GTA Charybdis and the GVA Setekh are considered AWACS ships. They give the following advantage to all friendly targets:
- better beam weapon accuracy
- detection of stealth fighters and bombers
- blocking communication and often confuse radars
- enables confused radars to properly detect enemy craft
Notes to mission designers
The AWACS ship should lose its ability after its radar dome is destroyed. You have to manually script it in your Events Menu. Use the is-subsystem-destroyed-delay and the set-awacs-radius commands to do this.
