The Earth Alliance's medium bomber, the Peregrine, is a well-specified craft that can engage other bombers, non-combatants and capital ships alike. Always at the heart of any EA assault, the Peregrine has time and again proven its abilities against countless GTVA warships. Hostile Peregrines should ideally be neutralised before they get into torpedo range, and certainly before they get into gun range as their Ripper cannons can severely damage unshielded ships at close range.

Description:

INFR1 Tech Room Description

The Earth Alliance's medium bomber, the Peregrine, is a multirole craft that can engage slower fighters, bombers, and capital ships. Although the Peregrine excels at neither of those first two scenarios, her capacity for capital ship attack slightly exceeds that of the Danaus.

Inferno Nostos Description

The Earth Alliance's medium bomber, the Peregrine, is a well-specified craft that can engage other bombers, non-combatants and capital ships alike. Always at the heart of any EA assault, the Peregrine has time and again proven its abilities against countless GTVA warships. Hostile Peregrines should ideally be neutralised before they get into torpedo range, and certainly before they get into gun range as their Ripper cannons can severely damage unshielded ships at close range.

Like many EA ships in Inferno, the Peregrine is highly annoying to fight. While not as elusive as the Claymore, the Peregrine has a thin cross-section and is very fast, allowing it to close with whatever you are escorting in mere moments. Peregrines fall easily to sustained fire, but are difficult enough to hit that killing them before they are on top of your convoy is a serious challenge.

Neither the original nor both upgraded iterations are dangerous opponents. Mediocre armor and shielding will provide it few more seconds of life before it die from focused fire. PBR rework is equipped with turret, but it does not add much to it's survivability. All three iterations share very flat profile, making Peregrine hard to hit from front, back and flanks so approach it from top or below to compensate ridiculously large target profile. Although Peregrine is Medusa equivalent in EA fleet, the bomber is much faster and it's capable of reaching it's target very quickly if left ignored or unnoticed.

Peregrine is completely different story if handled by hand of skilled player. Both reworks improve absolutely terrible placement of primary firepoints. 2019 PBR rework has phenomenal primary weapons setup, with six firepoints arranged very close to the center. Peregrine excels at disarming critical subsystems and turrets of large targets using Ripper cannon. High top speed for a bomber was already noted, but Peregrine comes with surprising dose of maneuverability, making it capable of limited dogfighting. It's overally very balanced craft of liberal and versatile nature, but suffers badly from AI stupidity.

The Peregrine was originally created by Aldo for Reciprocity, as a fighter-bomber "designed to fight a new species".
