The Phaistos corvette is an anti-fighter weapons platform that is far more nimble than its Terran, Vasudan and Shivan equivalents. It pays for this speed by having few anti-warship beam cannons, leaving that duty instead to the Malia class. Instead, it is armed with multiple pulse, beam and missile turrets for swatting aside fighter attacks.
