Necessity of a Chronological List
User-made campaigns do not take place in the same continuity; they occur in separate time-lines and, in my opinion, cannot be placed in a single 'chronological' list such as this. - Snail 08:36, 3 August 2008 (CDT)
- It's a commendable attempt. I would like to see how it would turn out. - TopAce 10:20, 3 August 2008 (CDT)
- Well, it's another way of sorting the campaign list, no less arbitrary than alphabetically. I think a better way to do it might be to make the main campaign list into a sortable table, rather like this example, but barring that, I've got no problem with the extra page(s). -- BlueFlames 14:59, 3 August 2008 (CDT)
- The exemple you showed is pretty good, BlueFlames. I believe that's the next step (Name/How finished is the campaign/Author/Mod ?/Side played/Date). - Narwhal
- We've already got them in something resembling loose chronological order, so it's a bit late to object to them on those grounds. Ngtm1r 08:20, 4 August 2008 (CDT)
Chronological Placement of Campaigns
Okay, I've moved Artifice to the Post-Capella section of the list at least twice now, and I'm wondering why it keeps getting moved back to the Capella era.... It takes place in late 2369, two full years after the destruction of Capella, and the campaign is most certainly not an anti-shivan mop-up operation. -- BlueFlames 14:15, 13 August 2008 (CDT)
Probably my mistake when I put back a chronological order for Capella / Post Capella. The first time it was intentional (wanted to group the campaign that are "together", this time wasn't. -- Narval
Formatting
Okay, okay, okay, stop, stop, stop! The formatting is absolutely messed up on some of the later tables. Can we please stop adding more campaigns and just fix up the formatting first? - Snail 01:25, 20 August 2008 (CDT)
- What do you mean by "formatting" ? - Narval
- Some of the Total Conversion tables are slightly different from the other tables. They should all be the same, as in spacing, column width, etc. -- Snail 07:47, 23 August 2008 (CDT)
- Well, the problem is that the spacing, column width, etc... is not set. The wiki adjusts automatically, for each table, the "optimum" width. It could force it, but I am afraid it would be a problem as I add new campaigns. Moreover, there are different information in different columns.
Earth Defense
The ED demo is not part of the current ED continuity. It's redundant stuff and all follow ups to it have been canceled. Naming it Earth Defense Demo was intentional to differentiate between the new mods, let's just say it's got nothing to do with Earth Defense anymore. -- Snail 07:46, 23 August 2008 (CDT)
- Okie, I didn't know this. Should we consider it as a "demo", as "released", as "stopped". Maybe we could put a "ED Version 1", stopped, with a partial released, and a (real) "Earth Defense", with nothing released. Well, how do you think we should organise this ? As a side note, I am happy to see that EDD as nothing to do with ED anymore because while the modeling was awesome and marvellous, the FREDing and the story were average at best.
- Yeah, about that, we didn't actually make any of the models. We just stole them ;). See, this is why that demo is redundant. It was crap! Well, anyway, that scheme sounds good. Maybe put the ED Version 1 in with the other Reconstruction campaigns and give ED its own section (when it's released). -- Snail 08:25, 23 August 2008 (CDT)
Order
Generally speaking, does anyone have a suggestion for an order which would be better than "pure alphabetics", but better than the one I tried so far ? (especially for GWII and Post Capella). Any chance sortable list which everyone would love gets possible on Freespace Wiki ? - Narwhal
- It would be pretty cool to have a sortable list but it would require modification of the Wiki code, which obviously only Sysops can do. -- Snail 09:05, 23 August 2008 (CDT)
Derelict
Of all fanon universes, I think the Derelict continuity is the most popular, many campaigns have been developed in it. The complicated thing is, these ones don't really reference each other and all contradict each other. The "official" fanon is definitely the Cold Element one - The continuations made by the creators of Derelict themselves. Then, there's the Into the Halls of Valhalla continuity (which spawns from the Derelict continuity) and there's the Meditations on the Abyss (also spawns from the Derelict continuity). I think this should somehow be noted. Possibly group Into the Halls of Valhall in its own section, Meditations on the Abyss in its own section and Cold Element + Derelict in its own section. So we would have:
Cold Element
- Aftermath
- Derelict
- Warzone
- Twilight
- BlackWater Operations
Into the Halls of Valhalla
- Police Action
- ITHOV
Meditations on the Abyss
- Meditations on the Abyss
Well, I'm not sure either way, it's a bit complicated, but this is how I believe it should be done. Snail 10:36, 26 August 2008 (CDT)
