Description:
Tech Room Description
The Ketran KACR Type Alpha, better known as the Hecatos class, is an aging design that has served the Space League since BNC0760. Only a few years younger than the Ketrans themselves, it has earned the affection of its operators. However, as the many hulls of Hecatos-class ships have started to feel the wear and tear of extended use and as the difficulty of repair and retrofit mounts, they began to be more costly than they are worth. The Conglomerate decided to begin decommissioning them and begin replacing them with the newer, faster, and more resilient Laeregis class.
The Hecatos is a heavy cruiser, built to withstand extended firefights against other large ships independent of other fleet assets. What makes it peculiar is that the Hecatos, despite its size, is an incredibly fast and maneuverable ship, capable of chasing down any smaller ships trying to flee from it with minor difficulty. Alongside that, with its 46 high-powered turrets and a fighterbay for 25 fighter and bomber craft, the sight of the Hecatos brings fear to any opposition.
Like all Ketran ships, the Hecatos does not use shields, but rather polarized armor plating which completely deflects all shots until a certain threshold has been reached in which then it dissipates around that area. This means fighters do not have a shield to fly under, but the armor itself seems to have no real resistance to any form of weaponry.

Name Origin
Hecatos is a corruption of the word Hecate, a reference to the GTD Hecate which its design was heavily inspired from.
