− | + | Very, very early screenshots of the Heraklion (dating to about 2000) showed a PVF Horus model scaled up to cruiser size, with turrets and Ancient tilemaps added. Presumably, that old POF has been lost to time. The method of stretching or resizing existing Volition models in this way was used a lot in the early days of FS modding, as evidenced by such ships as the Het-Ka, Kamilari, and Pylos, but rapidly fell out of favor as the number of skilled modelers increased.''}} | |

Description:
INFR1 Tech Room Description
The Heraklion cruiser is a fast attack warship with medium armor. For a cruiser, she is well armed with multiple small and AAA beam cannons. However, this makes her little more than cannon fodder when facing off against an Allied destroyer. Beware her multiple point defence guns, as Ancient capital ships are significantly more powerful in this respect than Terran, Vasudan and Shivan equivalents.
ASW Tech Room Description (as AC Kamares)
The ancient Imperial Enforcer, the Kamares cruiser has been in service since the dawn of the Empire, an icon of stability and peace. The Kamares serves in the capacity of an enforcer, its symbolic power preventing the seeds of rebellion from bearing fruit. However, during a full-scale conflict, the Kamares' age and weaknesses become clear. With relatively weak armor and only enough armament for point-defense, the Kamares is an easy target for alien ships. Because of its weaknesses, the Kamares is strategically deployed only as a supporting vessel, leaving heavy combat instead to heavier cruisers such as the Heraklion. However, despite its shortcomings, the Kamares is irrefutably a shining beacon of stability and endless growth of our glorious Empire.
