The Icarus-class subspace drive platform is the product of intensive study of the spatial phenomenon discovered recently near Luna. Based on the unmanned Daedalus-class probe that made the first intrasystem subspace jump last century, the Icarus combines an upgraded navigational array with an enhanced power grid to enable actual intersystem subspace jumps.
