Fighter squadron: 74th Templars
Description: Investigate the capabilities of the Vidyadhar.
Background
The SSD Vidyadhar and its battlegroup has emerged into Delta Serpentis. Guess who's on stealth recon duty?
Walkthrough
This is mostly a solo operation where you are flying a single GTF Daedalus. Fighter patrols to avoid are marked by the F8 key, while scan targets are on F12.
Start with scanning the Engine and Fighter Bay of the Kismat. Your Heads-Up Display will provide proximity warnings of Indra and Arjuna Wings orbiting the Kismat. Time your approaches to scan (the best time to approach is after Indra Wing passes a subsystem), if you get busted, fly out to a safe distance and shut down your drives (defaults to Alt-X).
When the Vidyadhar comes into the field, the Kismat will launch additional fighters. Wait for the distraction force to come in, then make your move on the Vidyadhar. (Do not use your afterburners closing the distance, the other capital ship escorts will catch you. Set your ETS to full engine power.)
While you're running the scans, you'll be picking up other Terran transmissions near the bow. Oh. Once you find out who they are, use your proximity sensors and the fuzzy orange dots on your radar to locate and get a read on the contacts. (You can safely use your afterburners now.) Once you verify their signals, leave them alone and run back in the direction of the distraction fleet. (Don't follow their immediate warning to jump out even if they pursue you. Extend your distance and kill your drives to give them the slip.) Once your pursuits are clear, jump back to base.
