The EAD Lindos is an oddly shaped Earth Alliance destroyer. It is, however, one of the most ferocious ships ever seen. With its numerous beam cannons, a Lindos can easily cripple any opponent.

EAD Lindos as seen in INFR1
First rework.
Second rework, as seen in Inferno Nostos release.
Lindos 2019 with PBR textures

Description:

Inferno R1 Description

The huge Lindos-class is probably the most oddly-designed warship ever constructed by mankind. Bristling with dozens of beam cannons and rapid fire turrets, nearly all of her firepower is concentrated on her forward quarter. Allied Command has lost several destroyers to Lindos strikes, as they are capable of delivering a crippling assault the moment they get into beam range.

Inferno Nostos Description

Martian strike destroyer.

If there are places a warship should never dare to go, in front of a Lindos destroyer must surely be one of them. Five beam cannons and three heavy torpedo launchers lets the Lindos rival even the formidable Boreas class in frontal firepower. Fortunately, the Lindos has no other heavy armaments other than those mounted on the forward quarter, and the torpedo launchers have an extremely limited ammunition capacity, causing many Lindos captains to have to commit to battle without a supply of deadly long-range torpedoes at their disposal. Anti-fighter arnmanent is particularly weak in the forward quarter of the Lindos, meaning the best protection against a Lindos shock jump is often a vigilant fighter screen.

Name origin

Lindos is a town on the Rhodes island.

Developer Notes

Originally reworked in 2016, I decided to rework it again to keep Lindos consistent with the rest of PBR EA ships.

It may look like a clown's idea of a building that can fly in space, but don't be fooled. The Lindos is one of the most dangerous warships in INFR1 simply because of its insane forward firepower. 10 beams mean that it can easily annihilate a small fleet on its own within minutes, or even a destroyer as heavily armed as the Boreas within a few seconds. Pre-emptive surgical strikes on this ship to strip it of its weaponry is a necessity if one is escorting warships against it.

The 2019 version has unique submodels of the spinal beam cannons. About half of the total length of its frontal extrusions are actually the turrets themselves, making them easy to be destroyed from different angles. If you make a head-on charge to strip an enemy Lindos of its teeth and end up fried by its opening salvo, you should approach the destroyer from a different direction when you retry the mission.
