Volition used letters of the Greek alphabet to designate friendly wings.

  • Alpha-Player Character Wing (Alpha 1 is Player Character)
  • Beta-Common
  • Gamma-Common
  • Delta-Common
  • Epsilon-Common
  • Zeta-Common
  • Eta
  • Theta-Common
  • Iota-Common
  • Kappa-Common
  • Lambda-Common for Recovery Ships (Transports)

  • Sigma
  • Tau
  • Upsilon
  • Phi
  • Chi
  • Psi
  • Omega

A mission designer need not follow this naming system, although this system is very common among mission designers.
