A laser turret that does not rotate and therefore can only be fired in the direction of flight is called a monodirectional laser gun.

In spite of capital ship guns -more commonly known simply as [Turrets], guns of this type absorb energy from an independent generator designed especially for laser guns, while turrets drain energy from a large, central reactor.
