General
A laser turret that does not rotate and therefore can only be fired in the direction of flight is called a monodirectional laser gun.
Fighters and bombers are armed with monodirectional laser guns, as well as a few transport classes. Accuracy completely depends on the skill of the pilot, not on an Artificial Intelligence-controller gunner of any sort. Because of the size of the craft which have been armed with monodirectional guns, compatibility is an issue.
In spite of capital ship guns -more commonly known simply as Turrets- guns of this type absorb energy from an independent generator designed especially for laser guns, while turrets drain energy from a large, central reactor.
