Description

Blue Planet Tech Room Description

Triton Dynamics' Super Houndtooth improves the classic warship plasma weapon with Aifven cavitation dampeners and a fast-snap magnetic bottle. Trading damage for rate of fire, the Super Houndtooth focuses on point defense against incoming warheads, with light target engagement a secondary concern. It performs poorly against shields.

Essentially identical to the Terran Turret statistically, but with a slightly longer range and a doubled rate of fire. Unlike the pulse cannons that Alliance ships mount in Blue Planet, it has no built in inaccuracy. This makes it the best weapon to destroy incoming warheads on most Alliance warships.

As the tech description says, this weapon does low shield damage, though it fares much better in this regard than the old Terran Turret. However, it makes up for this with a long range and hull damage greater than the Prometheus S. If it wasn't so slow, it would be highly effective against strikecraft.
