ACT 2 - MISSION 22
Fighter squadron: 74th Templars
Description: Retake the Sol Gate.
Background
With Earth Alliance assets spread thin throughout Delta Serpentis and the Shivans coming in from Ross 128, the GTVA Security Council has authorized the reclamation of the Sol Gate. However, as direct assault is considered suicidal at best and subterfuge has proven failure, a long-range solution is necessary.
Enter the 8th Vasudan Battlegroup with the GVD Sebek and the GTC Rhodes to commit to disabling the Gate's Weapons Modules.
Walkthrough
Starting wings consist of Alpha and Beta Wings (by default, two three-ship wings of Vesuvius and Ereshkigal fighters). Bring some Typhoons, their long-range response is a must.
As soon as you start, split Alpha Wing into taking out the Remote Cannons on the backside of the Gate. Once the guns are out, rally back to the Rhodes and Borisov. Take out all Aetna and Gagana bombers threatening your cruisers. Once the cruisers are safe, re-arm and jump to the Sebek's position. You'll hit the first checkpoint.
The Rabin and her escorts will try to charge the Pollux. Take out the Rabin's bow beams first.
Next up will be the Arethusa and Sabin. Focus on thinning out the Arethusa's escorts, then disarm her according to the weapons given high priority. Once the escorts and weapons are taken care of, the two warships should be forced out. Take the moment to re-arm around the time the second checkpoint triggers.
... and the Gate spews out a lot of capital ships. Then they jump out and prepare to sandwich the group.
Force the Missile Cruisers out by destroying their Missile Tubes. Then spread everyone out and disarm priority targets (read: Beam Cannons) as they are fed to you. Let Alpha Wing cover you or take on fighter escorts as you commit to disarming runs. The Sebek's bombers will do the rest/
Once the field starts to look untenable, the Sebek will force you to jump to the other side of the Gate alongside the Independence. After that, watch the fireworks show and return to base.
