***I know, but it is trick that people can do with FRED. Flying as a capital ships isn't creating a new ship in FRED. All it is, is a change from the original things that we can control. I know I discourage people from doing it because I listed something like that on the actual page itself. It is saying that you shouldn't really fly as these ships as it just boggs down gameplay. I put how to do it so that people could try it and relize how crappy flying one of those things is. I am not trying to upset you or prove you wrong in every way, I just want you to understand.User:grunt minion22]] | ***I know, but it is trick that people can do with FRED. **** For curiosity sake, would it work rather OK if you made a Transport playable ? The damaged subsystem list wouldn't be too bad, the limited number of guns would avoid backstabbing friends, and it's actually rather maniable. I am thinking Ma'at and even more Isis here. -- Narwhal | **** For curiosity sake, would it work rather OK if you made a Transport playable ? + | ***** A transport is managable, but still suffurs from some "capital ship" problems, such as slow warp out speeds. Even so, the transports returning from Freespace 1 also have shield models on them that can be activated with a little tinkering with the table files. Still though, you bring up a good point and its not unreasonable to zoom around in the speedy Ma'ats and act more like a gunboat than a transport. Is this really appropriate for the Wiki? - Snail 12:58, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- Isn't there a much simpler way using tables? (I never tried it myself) - TopAce 14:35, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- It deals with FREDing doesn't it? It is something that can introduce a whole new style of playing. And I also wasn't finished with it yet. grunt minion22 11:20am, 21 June 2009
- If you're not finished just save it to a text file, then upload the whole lot in one go. - Snail 18:15, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

This should be deleted or combined with another article. There's no reason to use this trick when you can make yourself fly a capital ship pretty easily with table editing. However, an article on why it's not practical to fly capital ships would be a great idea! General Battuta 05:38, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
- You do bring up a good point. The only issue I find is that a lot of people don't know how to table edit. Hell, a lot don't know where to even begin! I created this page as an alternate route of flying ships that you normally can not. If you create another page detailing how to table edit, then include a few bits from this page and delete the rest. It isn't completed yet, but I am nearing completion. grunt minion22 10:22am 22 June 2009
- I'm terribly sorry but I don't see the logic behind this page. Creating a ship using only FRED gives very bad gameplay results, and while it might be a novelty for new FREDders I doubt any veteran-member would actually care for such a thing, especially in the painfully basic way it is explained here. Don't mean to be a wet blanket or anything, but I don't see any reason why this should stay on the Wiki, at least not in its current form. - Snail 21:35, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
