Though the Hercules class fighter was indeed a powerful craft, many pilots complained that it 'handled like a brick.' The Antaeus is an attempt to solve that problem, faster and more maneuverable than the Hercules but sacrifices little in armour and shielding. The only major drawback is the Anteaus has only one secondary bank and so carries far less missiles than the Hercules.

Developed by Han-Roland Corporation, the GTF Antaeus serves as the GTA fleet's standard assault fighter. Built for versatility, the Antaeus boasts a robust power supply capable of mounting heavy primary lasers, giving it a firepower advantage over the GTF Apollo. The Antaeus is the fighter of choice in Inferno Alliance. It has the six gunpoints of the original Hercules, but only one missile bank. Armed with Prometheus cannons and/or Banshees the Antaeus could really rip apart any fighter in a dogfight, and its low secondary capacity is more than made up for with good enough maneuverability and speed. The Antaeus could be said to be the opposite of the Hercules Mark II in the way that while the Hercules Mark II focuses on missile capacity, the Antaeus focuses on primary firepower. All in all, however, the Hercules Mark II is probably the better fighter.
