The SFr Asmodeus is a Shivan-designed freighter. Among the three Shivan freighter classes encountered by the Terrans and Vasudans, the Asmodeus is the most durable of the three, with almost twice as much hull plating as the SFr Mephisto and the SFr Dis, as well as the most heavily armed. Nevertheless, it still poses little threat to combat vessels, even fighters, except in large groups.

FS1 Tech Room Description

Almost no data is available on the Asmodeus freighter. We are aware that it has a strong hull and four turrets. Any further data on this ship should be immediately delivered to Terran Intelligence.

FS2 Tech Room Description

Little is known about the SFr Asmodeus line of freighters. With a strong hull and four weapon turrets, they are the most dangerous Shivan freighters to attack. Nothing is known of the cargo Asmodeus freighters commonly carry.

Slightly tougher than the SFr Mephisto but with a larger profile, harder to destroy before the freighter jumps.

Oddly enough, it comes with a Disruptor in FS1, which is at best a waste of a turret for a freighter. Big, bulky, slow, and probably the worst nightmare of an escorting Shivan fighter wing. These things hold their cargo in a weird position where you could easily ram it off. The ship's only saving grace is the flak cannon in FS2, though it's not nearly enough to deter anything larger than a Pegasus.

It looks easy to kill from its weak turret coverage, but the truth is the Asmodeus is actually the Shivan freighter most likely to survive having an angry Herc spewing missiles go afterburning past because of its superior durability. Like the Terran Chronos, it is feebly armed but sturdy enough not to explode when sneezed on by an Athena.
