Originally deployed by the former United States of America, the venerable Hyperion is the GTA's oldest class of ships capable of bearing fighters. Much smaller and weaker than a destroyer, a Hyperion-class vessel deploys its fighters from behind the front lines, as a Hyperion-class carrier is neither powerful nor durable. As more Orion-class destroyers are built, these vessels are steadily being deactivated. Their only real saving grace is a remarkably strong anti-fighter armament.

The GTCa Hyperion is also featured in TVWP as the GTCa Sagittarius. Its only anti-fighter armament is Terran Turrets, but it has a lot of them, and they've gotten a speed boost in Twist of Fate. Its anti-warship firepower is better than a cruiser's, but a joke compared to the five heavy railguns on the Orion.
