Microjumping

First appeared in Predator, a short story by Fred Saberhagen released on July 8th, 1998 during the marketing campaign of the original FreeSpace, what is described as a microjump in the story matches the common definition of an intrasystem subspace jump between two locations within the same star system.

In Predator, the term is used all but once: "[...] gave him the second or two he needed to microjump in intra-system distance, getting to a node that allowed him to escape at interstellar speed a few moments later. In moments, the strange conflict they had glimpsed was billions of kilometers behind."

The canonicity of the term is disputed, as it's never been used in FS1 or FS2. FreeSpace 2 in particular uses the term intrasystem jump to define a subspace jump between two locations in the same system.

Use in fanmade projects

Thanks to Blue Planet, microjump as a term has regained popularity, though with a different meaning. In BP, in fact, microjumping refers specifically to tactical precision jumps against targets of strategic importance.
