The SSG Belial is a Shivan sentry gun first encountered by Terran and Vasudan forces during the Second Shivan Incursion. With its thin target profile and four heavy lasers, the Belial is extremely difficult to destroy with dumbfire weaponry and can pose a danger to ships with light shields and armor over extended periods of time.

The SSG Belial sentry gun platform appears to be a radical redesign of the Trident platform that was first encountered during the Great War. Pilots who have encountered both report that the Belial is harder to kill. It is reliably known that the Belial has twice as many laser turrets as the Trident sentry gun. Both types are used to guard storage depots, gas miners, and other Shivan installations.

Name Origin

Belial is an evil being in Jewish apocrypha. His name means "worthless" in Hebrew. Belial is supposedly the father of Lucifer, and also the one who goaded him into evil and into fighting the war against heaven.

The Belial is the only sentry gun you should fear. Four turrets give it firepower commensurate to a fighter from any angle, and while easily dispatched with secondary weapons, as with all sentries you must get rather close to the Belial hit it with primaries. This can be a problem when taking accurate and sustained fire from four Shivan Heavy Lasers.

All sentry guns are hard to hit at distance, but this is the hardest.

Best to take out with secondaries. In this case, one Harpoon should be enough.
