 A meson bomb enclosed in a Terran cargo container The Meson Bomb is an experimental weapon developed at the Hideki Institute in the Vega system. A highly classified project, this weapon has an explosive yield greater than any other warhead in the Terran or Vasudan arsenals, though its size requires it to be carried into battle by freighter rather than bomber. Its first combat deployment was to destroy the Knossos device in Gamma Draconis, and it was later used to collapse the subspace nodes leading from Capella to Epsilon Pegasi and Vega.
In the Cold Element continuity, meson technology was used to create the prototype GTVX Gorgon Cannon which made a brief but memorable appearance in Derelict. The prototype cannon is expected to reach its full potential in the GTD Golgotha, the flagship beam destroyer in Blackwater Operations.
In the Blue Planet continuity, the Hideki Institute applied its meson technology research to create the Supernova torpedo.
