Tech Room Description

  • Bomber variant
    • The Apollo bomber variant has a turret, more primary guns that are powered by a stronger reactor, and can carry heavier secondary arms than its space superiority counterpart, while having similar acceleration and maneuverability. Overall, the GTB Apollo is a very versatile craft and can perform multiple roles, ranging from precision strikes on large cpital ships' subsystems to assignments as asault fighter or bomber in attack runs on smaller craft, all the while doing well in Dogfights. Despite this, the higher production cost when compared to the standard issue Apollo, make the bomber variant a much more rare sight in the fleet, with only a few ships issued to specialized squadrons.

  • Prototype variant
    • The new Apollo fighter prototype is a perfect all-around ship, and a vast improvement over the aging Mustang Alpha in every aspect. It is more agile, has greater secondary loadout, better armour, and is faster. Field tests so far have yielded excelet results, although some pilots report slight instabilities at maximum speed and problems with low energy reservs for primaries in prolonged battles. All problems withstanding this impressive fighter will soon enter mass production, albeit maybe so with slight adjustments in place, to fix the remaining issues.

  • MK II variant
    • The Apollo Mark II is the attempt bring back old design that had been the backbone of the fleet during the Great War in a modernized form. This is achieved by on one hand combining the strong parts of the Apollo fighter and bomber variants in the old Apollo spaceframe, while adding all the latest tricks in fighter design. The MK II features twice as efficient gun controlls as older GTVA ships, and at the same time a much higher secondary payload, than the older Apollo models. The MK II has much improved hull armour and especially shields as well. Chances are, the MK II will be to a new generations of pilots what the MK I had been to pilots for the longest part of the Great War: A versatile ship for every situation.

The 3 models only differ in the (modeled) primary and secondary weapon placements (plus second pilot cockpit and nose turret for the bomber) and glowpoint colors. The hull colors are achieved by team color maps and tables, and can therefore easily be altered to the modder's convenience.

The modelled primary and secondary mounts are actually separate subobjects that may be swapped around in PCS2 by an experienced modder to achieve any different configuration.
