The GTC Fenris was the main attack cruiser of the Galactic Terran Alliance during the 14-Year War and the Great War. Together with the GTC Leviathan line of defensive cruisers (which were said to have resulted from modifications to the Fenris), these were the only canon Terran cruisers of the time.
Many Fenris cruisers were still in commission and saw engagement during the Second Shivan Incursion and NTF Rebellion, having been equipped with beam technology and used extensively by the Neo-Terran Front. Fenris cruisers were considered by the GTA to be superior to the Vasudan Aten-class cruiser in terms of effectiveness. As of the Second Shivan Incursion, the Fenris was considered outdated but only slightly inferior to the SC Cain.

FS1 Tech Room Description
The mainstay of the Terran Fleet, these vessels have served in both strike and defense purposes. From nose to tail it measures 260 meters. With a full array of weapon systems and a strong enough hull to withstand the strongest enemy warheads, a Fenris Cruiser can be found in almost any system that the GTA is operating in. The Fenris cruiser was originally designed as a strike weapon, hence its fast speed and decent turning rate. It was later decided that a second line of cruisers would be produced, for defensive purposes, once it became apparent that the V-T war wouldn't be over in a few months.
FS2 Tech Room Description
The GTC Fenris class is the aging stalwart among the Alliance's warships. Before the Great War, the Fenris was Terran Command's only class of cruisers. During the war, Terran Command decided to build a second line of cruisers, the Leviathans, to free the Fenris from escort and guard duties. Fenris cruisers have fought in virtually every theatre of operation. These fast, versatile cruisers pack enough punch in their 260-meter-long hulls to go toe-to-toe with any enemy cruiser. The Fenris's speed and maneuverability make it a good choice for strike missions.

Veteran Comments
Best way to tackle this ship is from the upper fore. The AAA beams are situation on the lower left and lower right towards the rear, and have wide arcs of fire; don't do too much in the way of evasive turns, jink instead.
Although it is twice as fast as the Leviathan, the Fenris is not as good as its big brother. Don't waste your Cyclops (or even Helios) to this ship, a bank of Hornets or primaries will do the job just as well. The LTerSlash beam is completely useless against other capital ships, but it gives the Fenris a chance to stand against freighters and transports, at least.
It should also be noted that the LTerSlash can glance off the ship you're protecting and smack you up. Watch this during Into the Maelstrom and Feint! Parry! Riposte!
For its size and age, it carries a respectable amount of firepower, especially in comparison to the other basic cruisers like the Aten and the Cain. Approach it from the front and if you have another ship you're escorting nearby, take out the LTerSlash beam. It may be one of the worst beams in game, but it will still save you a lot of trouble especially if you have weaker vessels such as transports or freighters around. And when Command in the campaign tells you to stay away from the beams, stay away. They will hurt you bad early on.
