Description:
INFR1 Tech Room Description
The recently-introduced Apothess destroyer brings its extreme-range firepower to the battlefield. Its huge graviton generators focus the warship's powerful forward gun over huge distances, allowing the Apothess to strike at capital ships up to fifteen klicks away without beam degradation. Up close, however, the vessel's lack of beams and point defense turrets makes her more vulnerable than most destroyers.

Veteran Comments

Essentially a flying beam cannon, the Apothess can core even destroyer-class ships with a single shot from its beam cannon at extreme range. However, the Apothess has precious little else for armament and will not last long in a close-quarters fight. If the enemy attacks an Apothess, keep them as far away as you can.
When designing a mission featuring the Apothess, it's a good idea to script each beam shot with fire-beam rather than telling the AI to fire the main beam at will, with a dedicated beam-free. This ensures that the mission will proceed as planned if there are multiple targets to destroy in order, as can be seen in Gateway.
