The Uriel assault fighter is the mainstay gunship class of the Federation and the most indispensable element of its fighter corps. Heavy armour and a devastating frontal array of cannons makes the Uriel the premier weapons platform against large, slow-moving targets. Uriels excel in various mission profiles ranging from airstrikes on ground targets to full-scale assaults against cruiser assets to heavy fighter or turret suppression. The fighter is also equipped with an underslung heavy long-range gauss cannon, further increasing its weapons potential. The low manoeuverability and top speed of the Uriel limits its effectiveness in dogfights, but some pilots have learned to compensate for these shortcomings. When deployed in full squadron strength, Uriels can dominate an entire battlespace with Slammer fire. The GTVA has faced down the threat of the Uriel by simply destroying as many as possible through massed Trebuchet fire, and unfortunately for the Federation, the Uriel is growing scarce to the point where it can only be deployed in vital situations.

The Uriel, despite being classified as a heavy assault fighter by the UEF, is probably best defined as a hybrid of heavy assault fighter and light bomber by GTVA standards. Not only is it more heavily armored than even the GTB Medusa, it has eight primary gun mounts arranged in a 6-2 configuration as well as an additional weapon, the ammo-based Archer, on its underside, perfect for sniping at subsystems and turrets from beyond the range of any warship turret. This increased firepower comes at a price; the Uriel pays for this impressive primary firepower with even less maneuverability and missile capacity than most GTVA heavy assault fighters. Reverse afterburn can only do so much for it, and it certainly isn't a way to find cover when a pair of Trebuchets are less than 2000m away.

Good turret, good weapons package, excellent at disabling even the GTCv Deimos. While wonderful at disarming single light warship targets and devastating fighters directly in front of themselves, it falls into the category of unsurvivable, un-maneuverable bomber for me. It has excellent speed, but it's less maneuverable than a Zeus. It has excellent durability and firepower but the Uriel has the target profile nearly the size of a Medusa. It's a tough nut to crack, and weak and old Alliance ships will be utterly devastated by it, but a pack of any competent fighter is a serious threat if you're flying a Uriel.

One mildly annoying thing is that the Uriel is unable to link its weapons, which means you have constantly to switch back and forth between weapons (say, the Gattler and the Rapier). This isn't really a major problem, but can be a tad distracting during a fast-paced dogfight.
