You do realize that this would be a one-sided slaughter of the Cylons by the GTVA, right? The GTVA uses nuclear weapons as air-air missiles and has bombs hundreds of times more powerful than anything the Cylons have. Crossovers in general tend not to work, and this is a particularly ill-advised one. - [[User:Woolie Wool|Woolie Wool]] 01:24, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Actually, no it's not.  My friend that I mentioned has followed the series very, VERY closely.  In fact, the BSG Series is one of the two series where he is a almost like a living encyclopedia of the series.  With this in mind, he has told me about different aspects about the series that almost mach the FS Universe, or can be bridged in the mod, like the point you gave about the GTVA destroying the Cylons.  One fact you failed to take into concideration with the Cylons is their ships' "healing" ability.  In addition to that (...and to even the odds a little...), we plan on bring back the radiation shielding that my friend mentioned was used in the First Cylon War.  This shielding was described as something along the lines of a second skin to the ship (Remind you of another ship in the FS Universe?).  Also, certin weeknesses that either series has are more or less exploited in the mod.  For FreeSpace ships, it's the range and firepower of their beam weapons and missiles; for BSG, it's the shear number of their ships and their flak weapons (which means that, yes, several missions may end up being BoE-style missions; I'm trying to work around that, though.  These weeknesses should make the mod more interesting, with the help of my friend's knowledge of CDF and Cylon battle tactics, that is. -- [[User:NFSRacer|NFSRacer]], callsign "Cypher"

Reason for the Mod

FSR is a mod that a personal friend of mine and I came up with since we like to compare stats, specs, weapons, ect. between the FreeSpace Universe and the Battlestar Galactica Universe. We did this for several months (YES, WE HAVE A LIFE!) and after doing this for so long, we thought, "Hey! Why don't we try to make a mod out of this?" We brainstormed what games would allow us to do that and the first game that came to mind was FreeSpace 2. Since then, we've been...working on and off, but we will get this done AND we may also release a CDF version of the mod shortly after. Either way, we feel this mod will be a mod worth adding into the next build of the FS Open Installer! -- NFSRacer, callsign "Cypher"

For FreeSpace ships, it's the range and firepower of their beam weapons and missiles; for BSG, it's the shear number of their ships and their flak weapons (which means that, yes, several missions may end up being BoE-style missions; I'm trying to work around that, though). These weeknesses should make the mod more interesting, with the help of my friend's knowledge of CDF and Cylon battle tactics, that is. -- NFSRacer, callsign "Cypher"
