Midas

Midas is one of the two major satellites of the gas giant Morpheus, with the other being Fortuna, and its colonization began during the first exploration efforts performed by the GTA. Midas' orbital period is different from that of Fortuna and makes the former more vulnerable to radiation bursts from the Adhara A star, and its superficial infrastructures reflect that. In particular, the development of Midas has gone underground, a choice that ensures protection from radiation as well as a more efficient exploitation of Midas' high geothermal gradients, which are mostly caused by the intense gravitational field of Morpheus. Midas is also known for its vast underground penal colony, which is for the most part under direct Coalition Watch control, a well guarded and monitored place that is segregated from underground cities and factories across the satellite.

As most planets and planetoids in the Serendipity campaign, Midas is named after a planet featured in the Colony Wars series, which in turn was named after the character from Greek mythology who could turn everything he touched into gold.
